Quality Planning Intern for Interior Trim Manufacturing Review

In the beginning, I did not really enjoy the placement as much of it was office-based, which I knew from beforehand. However, with the immense support from everyone in my department, I began liking the tasks I carried out. Occasionally, I was given practical jobs which was pretty fun and engaging!

I felt valued by my colleagues as they were very supportive and helped me settle into the placement. The company is huge so it took me a while to get used to the new setting surrounded by cars. It was an honour working with the colleagues I had, they were irreplaceable!

My manager was always checking on me to ensure I did the best. Even when he was busy, I used to approach him and he was always willing to provide assistance and advice. My supervisors were all approachable too, I cannot complain! In terms of guidance, enough was delievred by my line manager!

At first I was very busy due to the different build phases and production of cars. I was given plenty of tasks to keep me occupied. Rarely, I found myself doing little since there was always pending jobs and daunting deadlines to look out for! Throughout my placement, I began managing my time alongside the tasks I had to do, hence, I didn't feel as busy as when I first started the placement.

I was responsible for a number of tasks, from admin to practical jobs. Even in group tasks, there was a lot of work to complete. I did feel a little overwhelmed when I was appointed as the 'lead' person in charge of a project. Nonetheless, everyone in my department cooperated really well to get the project out the way!

In the early stages of my placement I learnt a lot of skills. Putting them into action was the difficult bit. Skills including time management, leadership and teamwork were all experienced throughout my placement. These skills will surely help me in the future of my career, from university to graduation and beyond.

My office was huge. There were workers from various departments working in the same office as me. There were approximately 250 employees or more who were working around me. The boring part of my office is that it was situated very deep into the building - there were no windows so it was dark and dull.

The placement was well-organised. My first day was spent very productively. Over the months, I always had tasks to complete and help other colleagues when I was free. However, the only issue was about my induction - it was held 2 weeks after my first day! Also, some employees I met in induction said that they had to wait months for their induction, so I suppose I was lucky!

The company did not invest in me. But there were ample online training sessions which had limited capacity, which I always considered, to help boost my personal development.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars are always looking for young new talents as well as older experienced people.

Meeting new faces throughout my placement was very fun indeed, no matter how old or young they were. I found it really helpful meeting experienced employees who worked at the company for over 10 years! My colleagues and other apprentices who I worked with directly were always introducing me to new people from various departments. I wish the placement lasted longer!

The cost of living was fairly cheap. Socialising wasn't very expensive either!

I did not pay attention to the Nightlife in the location where I lived and worked.

Job vacancies seemed limited. However, since I was working 40 hours per week, I didn't actively search for other possible jobs during my placement.
