The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at Oracle within Alliances and Channels. Both within my immediate team and the wider organisation interns were given great respect and many opportunities to learn and develop.
I felt valued by my colleagues in the channel at Oracle, as well as employees from other lines of business and partnering organisations. This was shown through increasing levels of responsibility given to me as I developed through the year.
I had great guidance and support throughout the year. There was extensive coaching to get up to speed with at the beggining alongside continued training and development courses spread across the year.
I was sufficiently busy throughout my year and had a consistently healthy workload. oracle is a 'self-service' orgaisation so you have to be proactive when looking for new projects to get involved with.
I was given an increasing level of responsibility during my internship. This included the opportunity to lead projects and deliver presentations to a number of audiences.
The learnings from this internship will help me through my final year at uni. But most importantly, I now have plenty of transferable skills that will help me in future employment and job searches.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was ok in Reading although a little empty. There was a far greater buzz in the London office.
The placement was well structured both as a group of interns and within my line of business. There was great scope to push my projects towards areas that I wanted to gain skills within.
There was a great deal of coaching set up throughout the year. You could undertake personal development in many areas with the large number of resources on offer.
