The Role
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my internship at Oracle. I am a Business and Accounting student and Bournemouth and gained invaluable skills and opportunities during my year. Across the year, I grew as a person and developed an understanding of the workplace, all elements which I will be taking back to University.
Personally, I was extremely lucky with not only the team I was in, but also the surrounding colleagues. My voice was always heard and opinions taken account for making me feel welcome.
I was provided with a great amount of support by both my direct managers and members of my team. Everyone was welcome and willing to help when you had an issue, never making you feel in a lesser position than them.
It varied. There is always work if you want, there are endless opportunities.
As my time went on, I went on was given more responsibility as it was earned through good work. I do believe you are 'thrown in the deep end' and are required to play a role as soon as you start just as any normal employee.
As mentioned, I am a Business and Accounting student, so my analytical and excel skills have definitely become useful and developed during the course of the year, skills which will be transferred into my coursework and exams. Furthermore, my confidence has improved immensely through Toastmasters and other presentations to partners which I was tasked with - these public speaking skills will not only be beneficial at University, a future job but also my day to day life.
The Company
The intern community is extremely strong, there is always people around who are willing to help or even get a coffee with you - same with team members. There was a safe and comforting atmosphere around the office from staff to employees.
I believe the Internship had a strong structure, making sure that you were getting on well every step of the way - in a welcoming way.
There is endless amounts of training and personal development which you can take on free of charge. These courses can be based on leadership, teamwork or even accounting skills - there is a huge range. My managers were always encouraging me to take up new projects and opportunities - the balance of work load is important.

Working from home
I would be extremely willing to return back to Oracle in the future on a grad role/perm basis. I thoroughly enjoyed my time.
The Culture
Due to the large amount of interns and being based near a university there was always opportunities to go out, whether that is eating, drinking or shopping.
