The Role
Very much so, great learning experience which helped me grow as an individual and learn new things in an academic sense. Also allowed me to experience the office environment, meet new people and get a feel for the 'real world' in a business sense. Sad to see it coming to end
I was treated as a normal employee, all team members treated me with the respect they showed others. Everyone was always happy to help if I was stuck and felt comfortable enough to ask me for guidance when there were topics I had a better knowledge in. Will remain friends following the placement
My manager was always helpful in assigning me work, but allowed me to manage my own workload - so if I was comfortable with completing multiple tasks at once, I was able to. But it was also accepted I may wish to have less tasks when there was a big project. We had bi-weekly 1-1 meeting to discuss everything I was doing and how I was getting on with it
I had a good balance in between not having too much to do so I was overwhelmed and having not enough so I was actively looking for something to do. I had some tasks which remained the same every week and had some which were new and different on a daily basis
I had heavy responsibility as the year progressed and I was more comfortable. Once I got 'stuck in' to my bigger projects I was trusted to lead meetings with managers and directors from other parts of the business. My projects involved some 'critical' things to the business - I wasn't just set pointless work as the iP
I have been sent on a variety of internal and external courses to the company. Some technical (SQL), some non-technical (time management, personal resilience) and some which resulted in qualifications (ITIL Service Management). These skills will be massively useful for mw when completing my final year and the career that follows
The Company
Really enjoyable atmosphere. Everyone appreciated the balance between 'fun and exciting', whilst also being able to get everything done. I enjoyed going into the office and seeing the people I interacted with on a daily basis. The office of 150+ people meant there was someone for everyone to talk to!
10/10. Training was set up before I started my role, sufficient support was in place to look after me - to monitor I was okay and not overwhelmed. All training was structured with regular updates with management and above. I was assigned a mentor to speak with about any non-work specific queries I had
Spend a large amount of money on training courses. Treated me as a full time employee who could be with the business for years. There were no shortcuts taken to get me to be fully trained for my role. I felt fully supported by the business to do my best

I am in the process of securing a role following my gradation. This role is different to the one I am doing currently. This is a graduate programme, but with recommendations from the company I can (hopefully) skip most of the application process and go to a final interview with a regional managing director.
The Culture
There was a small amount of IP's working in the same area. We met up outside of work on one occasion but most free time was spent relaxing or visiting other friends. With a 50 hour week it left us exhausted sometimes and happy to stay in on evenings and weekends
Was able to pay for rent and to run a car easily, with money left over. Cheap area with discount supermarkets and restaurants surrounding. Socialising was good with a variety of pubs, activities and a busy town centre. Sometimes had to drive away for certain activities (e.g. cinema or bowling)
In the local area it was reasonably quiet. However in the surrounding area there was some good places - e.g. Birmingham, however these were either a train journey or an expensive taxi to get there. Not great transport links home late into the night either (after 10:30 it became problematic)
Yes - I played football with work colleagues in an organised weekly work event. I went rock climbing and bouldering with members of my team on many occasions. These activities were attended by a variety of people each week so it was a great way to meet some new people
