The Role
I really enjoyed my year industrial placement at GSK. It gave me the insight and experience needed to help me in the future. I also had a proper job role. It was not just me doing things here and there.
My team were the best! when starting this job I moved out of my family home. My team were so approachable and made me feel so welcomed. The employees at GSK are the nicest.
Whenever I needed help I got it! My manager and colleagues were so supportive to help me whenever I need it.
Sometimes I was busy, other times I was not. It really depended on how busy the team was. I sometimes had lots of work at start of the month. But I never felt like I could not cope with work load. I also didn't work past 5pm.
Obviously as students we don't have all the technical knowledge, for example I couldn't do the role of an accountant. However, I would like to stress I did have an actual job and I did real work. I was given lots of responsibility.
I gained so many transferable skills of which I will be able to use both in my time back at university and also in future careers
The Company
It was so bubbly and fun! Never too serious.
It was okay, I think that it was good once we were in our individual teams.
We were given access to everything the same as normal employees. I had a linkedin learning account amongst other platforms that GSK had for its employees.
Flexi Time
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Placement students get to skip a stage of the graduate programme application process. However unlike other companies you don't get fast tracked or just offered a grad scheme.
The Culture
Although I didn't attend many of the social events. There was a IP Unite team who organised lots of social events.
London is very expensive, I chose to live alone so It was hard but doable.
