About You
I really enjoyed the Virtual Vacation Scheme offered by the firm. We were allocated a Trainee Buddy in our chosen seat and had virtual coffees with other members of the department. The webinars were very interesting and it was clear that the sessions had been well thought out and prepared. Although unfortunately, it was not possible to undertake real tasks for the department, I very much enjoyed writing a position statement for a 'pretend' case and learned a great deal in doing so.
No hesitation from me giving top marks for this. The Graduate Recruitment Team really went above and beyond for all of us to feel valued and connected with the firm and among ourselves.
The only reason that I have taken the mark slightly down is that I think the Trainee Buddies could have been more involved in our day to day during the week.
The webinars were very informative. They have strengthen my understanding of commercial law in general as well as given me insight into different practice areas that I had not considered before.
The Company
In general, excellent. We were given a clear schedule with the different webinars and activities. The week was full of interesting talks and two programmed social activities (a trainee lunch and an escape room activity). The only reason I have taken the mark slightly down is that the deadline for submission of our tasks kept changing/wasn't clear from the outset.
Wonderful. Some of us vacation schemers had met online through LinkedIn even before the scheme started. We were taken aback by how well we connected with one another from the start. Further, all the panelists and the graduate team really lived up to the firm's positive culture reputation. This was obvious from their demeanor and the care and patience with which they answers all our questions.
I think that I gained a great insight into what training in the firm looks like.
I already knew that I want to train in this firm, but it has definitely strengthen my resolve.
Everything Else
Yes. Graduate Recruitment and our Training Buddy were helpful to arrange virtual coffees, but we were encouraged to reach out to the speakers and other lawyers ourselves. Everyone I spoke with was receptive and extremely generous with their time.
We had two events organised for us, an escape room activity and a trainee lunch. They were both great.
Definitely. We had an entire session discussing the firm's pro bono and volunteering opportunities as well as other social events, from sport to music.
Without hesitation.
