The Role
It was a very enjoyable placement, I have taken many different jobs and learned a good amount of things and gained valuable experience. BMW culture at Farnborough is amazing.
Was treated as if you are part of the main team and you are encouraged to speak up and talk about any changes that should be made.
At the start there are a lot of support and as time passes it becomes more and more handsoff approach where you start doing your own things now. If you are stuck or need help, you will always be able to ask someone on you team.
First week of the month is usually always busy due to month-end tasks I have done. Outside of that, I had a balance time of busy with certain job I would get and a bit slower times with simpler manual tasks sometimes.
I was given a lot of responsiblities after a few months of working. In the end, responsibilities increase and decreases depending on how much you can do.
Learned a lot of things from life skills on how to behave to learning softwares that the company uses.
The Company
The general atmosphere was amazing, the office was great and my team would talk and gossip and have fun while working. As long as you can complete your work on time without mistakes or minimal amount of mistakes, they had no problems.
It was organised quiet well for my work to have been set up on time. I feel like there could be improvement on how fast it can be for new people in general.
Had to go through a lot of training such as GDPR, Cyber Security, etc and had to complete them within certain time.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
They do not offer jobs to anyone but it becomes easier to join the company back again. Infact one of my colleagues that joined within the first few months of my intership, she was an intern 2 years before I started.
The Culture
For the most part there are good opportunities to have a decent social life with other student. But that is on you after work. There are student meetings every now and then with activities to get to know each other as well.
Cost of living for a year is around 5.5-6.5k. I didn't choose to live and commuted instead. Big regret and you should live in the area if you can.
Didn't live in the are so can't tell.
There are gyms and other things outside I heard but its best to ask colleague about it.
