About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the virtual vacation scheme. Despite being virtual, the energy and ethos of the firm really shone through. It exceeding my expectations!
I felt valued by the team given as I had opportunities to get involved with the team and assist where I could. The graduate talent team were very attentive and helpful at all times.
My supervisor and trainee buddy were very helpful. I received all the support and guidance I required. After having a really interesting discussion about my interests with my trainee buddy, he really went the extra mile to ensure that he put me in touch with the best person to discuss these topics at length and add value to my experience.
The skills I developed will prove invaluable. They are transferable to my current role as a paralegal in a litigation firm. The information I have gained more generally in respect of the various department in a full service firm have really been beneficial in identifying the areas that I am keen to learn more about and potentially practice in the future.
The Company
The virtual vacation scheme was very well structured. The graduate talent team did well to ensure candidates were busy and therefore felt part of the firm. I genuinely forgot that I was in my living room for this scheme. I did suggest however, that certain catch-up sessions could be omitted to allow for them to identify where some candidates are more proactive.
The atmosphere was very positive. The ethos of the firm was evident. Everyone at TW were friendly, approachable and genuinely interested. Our cohort were also friendly and collegiate which added to the positive experience.
The firm had clearly invested in the virtual vacation scheme to maximise the experience and therefore maximise the development. The Blackfriars session was especially useful in terms of personal training and development as was the practice group task and ad-hoc work for the department.
I have a very good idea of how easy it would be to fit into the firm in terms of the values, ethos and general environment of the firm. In respect of gaining a general understanding of the day-to-day work, I imagine it would have been a bit clearer if we had experienced the scheme in-office. Although given the circumstances, the scheme was above expectations, and I feel that I have a good understanding of life as a trainee with TW.
The culture really was exceptional, everyone was friendly, encouraging and added value to the experience. This really was shown at its best during the scheme.
It has certainly solidified my interest in a future career path with TW.
Everything Else
I was paid in respect of the one week virtual vacation scheme placement.
Despite the busy schedule, there were plenty of opportunities to network and gain further insights into areas of interest. This was a really beneficial aspect of the scheme, and given the virtual nature, it was surprisingly easy to fit these into the calendar.
There were plenty of opportunities to network and great social events organised by the TW team to add a different dynamic to the scheme.
The insight from the trainees was very positive in this respect, they made clear that there are plenty off opportunities. Most positively, it was clear that the trainees could suggest and implement schemes which were of merit.
I would recommend this scheme to anyone.
