The Role
I think that the job was pretty standard, however I was often finding there was not enough to do throughout the day and my manager was often busy so I would be left with no work to do for hours at a time. I was also the only person my age in the team so it felt quite lonely.
They were nice to me, however it felt like if I wasn't there nothing would change, like I wasn't making a difference. They would invite me to lunch and make small talk but we definitely did not "bond", I felt very lonely and bored a lot of the time working there.
They would give me tasks (the majority of the time I was me asking for extra work as they didn't have enough for me to do) and would initially tell me what they wanted doing, or how to do the task, however my task manager on a few occasions would get very frustrated if I would ask follow up questions or for him to repeat stuff.
Really not busy at all. It was horrible. I would have nothing to do for most of the day, some days I would have nothing at all. I would ask for extra stuff but I wouldn't be given anything substantial to do. It was sometimes like being stuck in prison for 8 hours a day.
The main tasks I was given did seem to have some responsibility behind them, however I didn't really see any use actually come out of the things that I did. The task's weren't exactly interesting, however I did them to a high standard and within the allotted time frame. The feed back on everything I did was very positive.
Had no relevant training to do the job. We had an induction that took us over the standards expected of us at the workplace and super basic workplace do's and dont's that were a standard thing taught to us by my collage and secondary school. When I started the job I was expecting some training as to what I was actually doing (the job description they gave me when signing up was flat out just not my job) however I received none. There was also supposed to be a hand over document from the last placement student, also received nothing.
The Company
People were chatty (sometimes). You know when you watch the incredibles and the dad is working in the office job and is super bored all the time. That was me. Well maybe not quite that bad, we did have a kettle so you could make your own coffee and you were working with a team (kinda) so you had someone to talk to a bit.
I'm giving this 3 stars purely due to the sign up process. Oh my god was it a nightmare. You don't hear from them for sometimes literally a month and then they send you a bunch of stuff to do (basically rewriting your CV you have already sent them into 50 different boxes) and say if you don't have it sent back in 3 days they presume you are no longer interested. People go on holiday! People may not have wifi for up to 2 weeks at a time if they go camping or something! Actual nightmare honestly. The rest was well done though but the beginning was a disaster.
No individual personal training or anything aside from the two day induction. Well there might have been, but there wasn't for my role. Presumably someone in a different job (presumably tech based) would have trained but I had none. They have a website where you can do your own learning by reading blogs, articles, watching videos etc and you are required to do 40 hours a year (not too hard but can be boring).

I won't lie, it seems like there are none. My boss had been working there for 30 years and is a band 9. I am a band 7. The entry band is a 7. And he had been working there for 30 years!! The bands (I believe go up to 10 and then switch to letters (E through to AA being the CEO) but don't quote me on that. There seemed to be very little structure.
The Culture
I had only 2 other people in my scheme working at my office, but they were in a different department. So no. If you worked in London I heard it was great. But not in a more rural office. When we met up with everyone on my scheme it was brill, but that was only four times a year.
Was near Winchester so very high. Even the lunches at the office were very pricey, you would have though they would have made it cheaper, to you know, be nice to the employees? But no. It was cheaper to drive to the nearby Tesco's and by lunch or simply make it at home.
There were a few clubs in Winchester that would open up at night, however you would have to travel to Southampton for anything good. There were some really good restaurants though, however on an interns salary... not affordable. Was still cheaper to get a bus to Southampton and then eat out with friends there.
I'm presuming this question means activities that the company puts together, and if so there were a couple of things across the year such as fireworks etc. But not really any clubs that met weekly. You would have to actively search for people with similar interests to you and arrange it on your own.
