  • Given the circumstances we are currently in, the firm created a really engaging Virtual experience. It was a thoroughly enjoyable week which was full of lots of interesting content.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The interns were at the heart of all activities during the week. It was very much focused on us, ensuring that we were fully informed about the firm. I certainly felt valued by the Grad Recruitment team who showed a genuine interest in us all and were intent on providing the interns with the best possible experience, albeit virtually.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • This experience certainly allowed me to further develop my commercial awareness skills. It helped me to understand more about the day to day running of an international law firm and the variety of work employees are involved in. The group work also provided me with the opportunity to build on my communication and team working skills.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The Virtual Internship was extremely well put together, incorporating a variety of interactive activities. The schedule enabled interns to find out a lot about the firm, even if it was in a virtual manner.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Extremely welcoming and friendly. Plenty of opportunity to meet and interact with fellow interns in a virtual manner.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm had created a scheme which enabled interns to develop skills and learn new things. Given the virtual format, it was difficult to provide the opportunities that would normally be on offer in a face to face format, whereby interns could learn more by being in the office environment.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The firm did everything it could to provide interns with a full insight into life as a trainee. There were opportunities to interact with current trainees to ask questions and seek advice. We also heard from a future trainee about his journey since the internship and what the firm has done to support him up until he start as a trainee later this year.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The scheme reaffirmed what I already knew about the firm. We heard a lot about the firm's culture, values and type of work it is involved in. Hearing personal perspectives from a range of people helped me to grasp a real understanding about the firm's culture and the type of people working across its offices. The diversity within the firm really stands out.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • We heard from different people about a variety of practice areas and the type of work that is involved within this. Hearing from several trainees about their day to day work was also extremely useful for understanding how they contribute and learn.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • The weekly pay given by the firm was very good.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • The week was very much centred around networking and meeting people in order to provide interns with the best opportunity to find out more about the firm and the type of people that worked there. Activities included a trainee Q&A panel and talks from a variety of partners, who also engaged in Q&A sessions with the interns. There was ample opportunity to interact with fellow interns too.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Extremely beneficial for learning but also made it easier to feel more relaxed. There were lots of opportunities to ask questions.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • There were talks about networks in the firm and societies run within the firm. It was nice to hear from partners about the diversity within the firm and the type of support they provide through these employee networks to ensure inclusivity. It was also useful to hear from trainees about the extra-curricular activities offered within the offices.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this Internship. Although the format had altered this year due to Covid-19, the scheme was still extremely interesting and insightful.
