About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the programme, it was engaging and informative throughout and despite being virtual experience it still provided valuable insight into the firm, their values and the type of work they do. The involvement from people of all levels at the firm was really impressive and their passion for the firm really shone through.
The Graduate Recruitment team could not have been more welcoming and friendly and really made everyone feel engaged and comfortable even though it was all over zoom. Everyone from the firm who spoke with us asked how we were finding it and genuinely wanted to make the experience a valuable one.
The Graduate Recruitment team were excellent at explaining exactly what was going to happen every day and communicating the schedule for that day with us. We received emails every evening reminding us of the next days schedule and containing any information we might need such as codes for zoom rooms.
We were split into small groups and provided with information about a client which we had to use to carry out a pitch presentation at the end of the week. This involved setting up a zoom room for our team so we could discuss ideas, run through our strategy and communicate our research with each other. This having been the first time I have worked on a group project completely virtually it was interesting to learn how we were able to adapt and still be able to produce a really good result.
The Company
The whole week was extremely well structured and really well organised. There was a perfect mixture of presentations by people from the firm and time to work collaboratively on our presentation. The flow between the talks from all different people in the firm was seamless and the fact they still managed to arrange a networking quiz with current trainees was commendable.
The atmosphere was really positive throughout the whole week. We got into a good routine of using emoji's and hand waving to ask questions to partners and associates at the firm. The Graduate team did their utmost to make sure everyone felt involved and that we still had the opportunity to get to know a little about each other.
The firm did their utmost to adapt to the current circumstances and move the programme online so that we could still go ahead with the internship experience. They ensured we still received an in depth and really valuable and honest insight to the firm and having people talk to us from the comfort of their own homes made it very genuine.
The firm arranged presentations from people at all levels in the firm who shared their knowledge and the values of the firm and the types of work they do. They gave comprehensive overviews of the work they carry out on a daily basis and very more than happy to answer any questions. I can wholeheartedly say i feel that i was given a real insight as to what it would be like working for the firm.
The Graduate Recruitment team arranged presentations from the people involved with employee networks who gave brilliant insight into the support network the firm provides. We also got to meet the head of Diversity and Inclusion and one of the top Pro Bono lawyers at the firm who both gave amazing insight into the work they do.
Extremely Valuable.
Everything Else
Yes
We had a virtual quiz organised by current trainees and we were able to contact trainees or people in the firm if we wanted to set up a zoom chat to find out more about what they did or to ask any further questions. Everyone was very open to being contacted and to answer questions.
Unfortunately dud to the current situation we were unable to participate in any networking or social events, however this is of course not fault of the firm and i appreciated the efforts they went to in order to move the programme online so we could still participate in the internship itself.
Yes the trainees and some of the partners told us about sports teams they get involved in and even compete and against other law firms in these teams. There seem to be a lot of opportunities to get involved in after work activities and social events if you wanted to.
Absolutely 100% yes i would, even if it was only being held virtually again it is really worth it.
