About You
The experience was really well done considering the COVID situation, the Graduate Recruitment Team put together a very useful and insightful experience for all.
Again, given the situation it’s difficult to make everyone feel valued over a webcam, however a group quiz was still organised and trainees got involved, there was a lot of members of the firm who made time to give us talks and again the Graduate Recruitment Team did a really good job to make everyone feel welcome and valued even if over webcam!
The Graduate Recruitment team we’re on hand all the time to help with any IT issues or offer any advice during the placement. It can I imagine be quite difficult for a small team to help and assist with over 100 people but it was really well managed with quick responses to any queries
I’ve finished my degree but the experience gained will really assist in terms of a future career as we received a lot of insight and advise from people of all levels across the firm.
The Company
We received daily emails telling us times and zoom meeting codes of where we needed to be. We were also left with a lot of time as groups to work on presentations which was incredibly useful. It was a really good mix of talks and group calls vs smaller groups and more intimate meetings and again given the situation it ran really smoothly.
Everyone was incredibly warm and welcoming from the initial interviews right up to the end of the experience. It was really fun and for something that could be extremely nerve racking, it was a really good week. It’s a shame it couldn’t be in the office and in person.
The large group meetings were really insightful for everyone embarking on a career in law to gain a fuller understanding of the firm and its daily running’s. We then also had smaller group meetings with offices and did a presentation and the feedback and help received during these was also very helpful.
I think given the situation, it was hard for the firm to give us the full experience of a full time role with the company, but they still did incredibly well in breaking down daily work across departments and sectors to enable us to gain a fuller understanding of how a full time role sit the company would work in practice
As said, the larger group meetings were incredibly helpful. We received information from people of all levels, and from different groups and sectors. We also received information of pro-bono and initiatives which enabled us to understand more the culture at DLA and what principles and values it stands by.
Really helpful. The experience affirmed my desire to fully qualify and work in law.
Everything Else
We would have been reimbursed expenses but I Individually did not incur any expenses as the experience was done at home.
As mentioned, it was broken down into large groups and then smaller groups. The smaller groups were incredibly useful for meeting employees and networking and it was broken down into smaller meetings with different groups of people which fully allowed us to have more personal conversations and gain more information.
A quiz was hosted for us on the first day, and we were broken down into smaller teams with other interns. I know from experience that has this been in the office, there would have been a lot of social event opportunities during the three weeks.
We received a lot of information of different social activities and initiatives at the firm that all people can get involved with
Absolutely would. The firm has organised an incredibly well organised and insightful experience. I currently work at DLA so have seen first hand how they run in normal situations and would 100% recommend this to a friend/students/ future trainees.
