    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have had a really enjoyable year, gaining a vast amount of experience and knowledge of the workplace environment. I enjoyed the company culture very much, learning all about efficient ways of working. I also got the opportunity to meet lots of new people who have helped me learn on the way and enjoyed the work life lifestyle at the office. This year will defiantly to benefit my future, and i am very happy I decided to do the year.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My role included a lot of responsibility, where my colleagues relied on my work. Therefore, I always felt as though I was a valued member of my team as I knew my work was helping my team and I could see first hand how my work would go to help them team. As the year went and I was able to develop my role, I could see even more how integrated into the team I was making me feel like a valued team member.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • There was a lot of support and guidance by management and supervisors. I had weekly one to ones with my line manager where I could discuss all work related topics. I was also given a project mentor, that would help me on a project I was working on throughout the year. He gave me advice on the company's way of working and general guidance. Alongside this, support and guidance was always given to me from HR and other team members.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I had a very enriched job role, making the day to day entertaining. I had a lot of day to day jobs alongside more long term projects. I never felt overwhelmed. There were times were I was very busy, and needed to work hard to meet delaines. This was never too much work, and was always manageable. There were never times I wasn't doing anything, and if I had the capacity for more work, my manager could cater for this and provide me with more work to do.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility on my placement, which allowed me to feel like I was contributing to this team. I had multiple projects that I was managing, which contributed to the business. These project generated high levels of revenue and contributed to the success of business operations. Paired with the high level of responsibility was a lot of support, to ensure I could operate at a high standard and meet the high level of responsibility I was given.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I developed multiple skills throughout the year. I was able to gain a higher level of personal development at the company, much more than I had initially anticipated when coming into my placement year. I have massively improved my critical analysis, team work, communication skills and Marketing experience. These will all directly correlate into my final years studies, giving me a lot more confidence going into my final year. Furthermore, I will be much more confident now when looking for a job after I have completed my degree.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office atmosphere was very enjoyable. I was very happy working there right from when I started, and all the way to the end. Everyone in the office was very welcoming, with everyone being very friendly and genuinely wanting to find out more about me. They were also aware that I was a student and were always looking to help me throughout the year. My team was very enjoyable, having multiple away days which were always a very enjoyable experience. I got to visit some really cool places with a really nice bunch of people.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised. They were always organised right from the start, from when I originally applied from the role, all the way to the end. They had a clear and well structed plan from myself and the other students throughout the year to ensure we were able to get the most out of our year. There was a clear team that looked after our year, and were always there for us if we had any problems or queries.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was presented with multiple opportunities throughout the year for my personal development. There were ample different courses we could participate on which helped develop our workplace skill sets, helping towards developing my future employability and efficiency. They catered for individual needs too, where they were willing to provide more training on areas you wanted to improve. When I requested extra presentation training, they immediately organised it and provided me with the opportunity to improve my skills which I can now take onto Uni and future jobs roles.

  • Very appealing but very competitive. I would happily join the company in the future, however it would be very competitive as there are limited jobs roles available.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Very much so. There were lots of opportunities for the students to social together, in which we often did. Not only this, there were multiple opportunities for the students to integrate with other colleges. We had multiple sports and social activities organised which helped us make friends and integrate with other members of the business and making the year more enjoyable. I never felt pressure to join these events, however I did attend them and they were always very enjoyable.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Quite expensive area in terms of living costs and socialising. The office did have a canteen which was subsidised. I was living at home so I saved quite a bit of money doing this.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • In the local town the nightlife is okay, with a few pubs and bars. Only about 30 minutes to get into London.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, multiple. I had the opportunity to play sport outside of the office. There were often social activities organised, which had a wide variety to cater for peoples different interests. You could join the sports and social club, and they would give you the opportunity to attend these events, often at a discounted price, making tickets very affordable. This would go on throughout the year and also at celebratory times of the year, such as Christmas.
