About You
I gained invaluable experience through the scheme, learning about various departments and carrying out tasks in different practice areas. I really enjoyed taking part in the scheme and learning about Stephenson Harwood as a firm.
Through taking part in various social activities with other participants in the scheme, as well as the entire firm, I was made to feel extremely welcome. I was also able to chat one on one with various individuals, which helped me to feel valued as a vac schemer.
We were given plenty of support throughout the scheme, from calls to check in with us individually to group discussions to begin and end the day.
I will use the skills I developed daily in my career as a solicitor. The information I gained has also helped me to have a clearer idea of which practice areas suit me and which seats I would like to try during my training contract.
The Company
The scheme was incredibly well structured - we were always involved in a talk or a task. This helped to really get a feel for the firm and ensured we were heavily involved whilst on the vacation scheme.
Although virtual, the atmosphere was extremely positive, something which enabled me to get a good feel for the culture of the firm.
Stephenson Harwood really took the time to think about what tasks we should be doing and what talks would help us. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] were always on hand to help out and put a large amount of effort into ensuring that we were fully supported throughout the scheme.
Through speaking with trainees and associates, I was able to get a really good idea of their day-to-day lives, something which was also brought out by the tasks that we carried out. As the scheme was virtual it was hard to get a feel for exactly what a full time role would be without spending a day in the office with trainees etc. but aside from this, I got a clear idea of the role of a trainee at Stephenson Harwood.
I was really able to understand the culture through speaking with various employees.
The content of the scheme has encouraged me even more that I would like to be a trainee at a firm like Stephenson Harwood.
Everything Else
I had a mentor and a buddy with whom I had several discussions. I was also able to network through the trainee socials and the firm-wide quiz at which I met various partners.
Through talks about the firm and speaking to trainees I was able to see the wide array of opportunities available to those at the firm.
