About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience! Despite the internship being virtual instead of in person, the graduate recruitment team managed to deliver an amazing week! We were made to feel comfortable and welcome from the very first morning and i almost miss our daily zoom calls! We had a combination of regional specific sessions, quizzes and insight talks hosted by a wide range of senior management. Everyone at the firm was very approachable and friendly and could not recommend the firm enough. The culture of the firm was very apparent through graduate recruitment and it was really nice to see.
I felt extremely valued. The amount of time dedicated to us as interns for questions an interactions was surprising and we were made to feel like the future of the firm from our own homes. Our opinions were valued and our feedback was welcomed. The team were extremely welcoming and we could contact them about anything should we need to. The firm expressed how grateful they were that we had overcome the adaptations to a virtual platform which made for a nice environment.
We were assigned buddies prior to the internship. My buddy along with the wider trainee cohort were extremely helpful throughout the whole experience. They shared their experiences and shared tips and advice throughout. If we ever needed, the graduate team made themselves available via email, video call or telephone. I would struggle to see how much more support we could have received in a virtual environment. Thank you so much to all of the team and the wider firm for their support.
This week has shown just how important a firm's values and culture is when applying to a firm. The interpersonal skills i have developed will help me indefinitely and my interview skills have been enhanced greatly. The group exercise was a really great way to test my research, team work and communication skills. We managed to overcome working as a team although we had never met, and deliver a pitch to partners via video call and receive fantastic feedback.
The Company
The whole week was extremely well structured. We were sent an itinerary in advance and every scheduled call was seamless. to manage in excess of 100 people all day for a week in multiple different calls on time and (for us) effortlessly, is testament to the work put in by the graduate team. Every guest speaker and session host navigated the online meeting rooms without fault and we were able to engage with a wide range of people with little effort.
Extremely welcoming. I cannot recommend this scheme highly enough and although i would have loved to meet the team and fellow interns, we definitely were not given a worse alternative. We experience more than i could have expected and the way the firm's employees welcomed us into their homes via video chat was very nice. Everyone involved was very welcoming and supportive throughout and i really appreciated that. thanks again to all who helped make the week run so smoothly.
The presentation to partners and group exercises were extremely good experiences and the firm invested in this highly. We received detailed and helpful feedback on all of our assessments and presentations and those assessing these were very interested in what we had to say and how we said it and this was very refreshing. The advice provided by the firm on the process was very helpful and humbling and i felt prepared throughout to achieve.
The whole programme was geared to showing what life is like at the firm should you be successful.
The company's culture was prevalent throughout every encounter and every session. As expressed previously, this week has really enforced for me how important a firm's culture is when choosing a firm and i could not recommend DLA enough for the firms values and culture. The firm invests in its people and all it asks is that you live and breathe its culture. It was a very exciting prospect to be a part of the firm as a trainee.
Very helpful. I am now certain on the pursuing a career at this firm and i hope to secure a position here.
Everything Else
I was paid by the firm as my wage continued.
yes there were networking sessions, Q and A sessions and a quiz. Every session was an opportunity to network and was very helpful.
very helpful. Although it was very difficult to answer a question on a call of 100+ people and very few people could ask one. However this is no fault of the firms and the office specific sessions were very good. The firm did an excellent job at organising these and adding additional event at last minute due to high demand. Again everyone at the firm was very helpful and interested in what we had to say.
Yes, there were many sessions on the firm's initiatives outside of work. These are very exciting and are something i would love to be involved in in the future.
Absolutely, i cannot recommend this experience enough.
