The Role
I enjoyed my placement fully, I was given so much responsibility from the start. I got to work with senior leaders of the organisation and expand my network across the entire UK Operations. The opportunity to develop and move from Commercial to Manufacturing for 6 months was an exceptional opportunity and accelerated my HR skills and exposure to a different industry. An absolute phenomenal experience, and I would return to MSD in a heart beat.
Very valued, you weren’t treated as an inexperienced student, but as an employee who’s views and opinions are valued as much as everyone else. My team and the wider business valued my input and new ways of thinking, allowing me to put my own stamp on things.
Brilliant, check ins regular not only with my manager but the wider team including the HR Director (My boss’s boss). My manager and HR Director always had time to talk and listened to my development. When i moved from commercial to manufacturing, i had the full backing from my manager and HR director and given the support needed to make such a big transition, especially during the pandemic. Friends as well as work colleagues, MSD is one big family!
Very busy, various meetings everyday and no day was the same. I loved how unpredictable working in HR was and the different projects i got involved with, increasing in responsibility and sensitivity. I’d get in at 9 and look up at the clock and it would be 5pm ready to go home, it went too fast!
Vast amount of responsibility which was great to be noticed by the wider team and senior leaders within MSD. I worked on huge organisational change projects, taking on more work with increasing responsibility once they knew i was ready to take it on. Yes you are pushed into the deep end, with responsibility from day one. But MSD will give you some buoyancy aids to keep you swimming - supporting and backing you all the way!!
I received coaching and training everyday, learning from colleagues within the HR team on how they do things. Everyone’s way of doing things is different, so the opportunity to work and partner with colleagues within the HR team as well as the wider business allowed me to understand the best way to do things. Excellent knowledge and skills acquired for the specialist HR modules i will undertake in my final year!
The Company
Great!, Hot decking was nice touch to talk to different people and open office feel meant going and talking to people was great. Productive working environment
Great! Well organised, I couldn’t have wished for anything more.
Promotion after 10 months to interim HR Business Partner moving to manufacturing was an unprecedented investment as a student and I was extremely lucky to be given such a great i opportunity.
