    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My placement year has been thoroughly enjoyable. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming when I started and throughout the year. I was full supported by my manager and peers. The environment was sociable and happy. The role was very rewarding and everyday was exciting. I was supported with anything I needed and I couldn't have had a better placement year out. It was such a great culture to work in and be a part of.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Every opinion, idea or thought was highly valued by my peers and my manager. There was no wrong answer and you were always made to feel valued and included. New ideas and ways of working were definitely encouraged and everyones voice was heard. There was never a time I didn't feel valued. All the work I did was important and needed and, therefore, definitely valued. My colleagues were very supportive and encouraging of everything I did.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given immense support with any struggles, issues or concerns. Training was provided from day one and any questions I had were answered. No issue was unresolved or put aside. My manger was fully supportive with everything I did and included me in everything. There was always time to fit me in if I needed it and I could go to my manager about anything, work related or not. I've I was struggling with anything, guidance would be provided instantly.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was constantly kept and a good level of busy. There was never a day where I had nothing to do but I was never overloaded and if I felt that way, I could speak up about it and the workload would be adapted or reduced to help me. The role is a busy role in itself which is such a great thing as it means your work is meaningful and not a waste or unwanted.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was always given total responsibility with everything I did but also I was never left to just go off without direction. I was also fully supported with everything I did and if I was happy doing my own thing and if I wanted full responsibility of work, I was given it. I was encouraged to work independently and also collaborate with my colleagues if needed. Whatever achievements you made were also recognised and rewarded.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have had constant training throughout my placement year on many different things. Everything I learnt can be applied to my degree, especially time management and analysis skills. My placement year has given me experience of the working environment which is invaluable as a student. I definitely feel a lot more confident going back to university and also for after I graduate. I feel well prepare for the future as my placement as taught me a lot.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office was always so friendly and nice. It was a large office which meant, it was always busy and such a great environment to work in. Everyone was so friendly from day one and couldn't have been more nice or welcoming. Everyone was so easy to get on with and everyone was so helpful. I felt so included in everything and people made me feel like I fit in so quickly.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Everything was well organised when I started. I had an introductory call before I started with my manager, to go through my first day and make sure I was still okay with everything. My first few weeks I was given a timetable with my schedule of everything I would be doing including who I was to be shadowing and what training I would be having with what time everything would be at and if I had any questions, they were answered.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company invested a lot of time and effort into training. We had weekly training workshops with the team and we also had an induction in the main office which we travelled to. Everything was paid for and well thought out. We had two days thorough training with workshops related to the business and our roles. If we felt like we needed training on anything else our manager would be happy to support and run a workshop to help or 121 time.
