The Role
I've absolutely loved my placement year with Warner Bros. I have learnt so much in relation to marketing and the industry and I've really enjoyed being able to make the most out of the experience. One of the best things about this placement is that you are doing real work (not making cups of tea for people!) and you get the opportunity to real develop the skills necessary to excel in the future. I can't recommend it enough!
I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to work in such a fantastic team. I was always made to feel valued and appreciated by all of the colleagues that I worked with- both within my own team and the wider business. This is very rare within big companies and it did not go un-noticed.
I was given fantastic support and guidance by my manager and the wider team that I worked with. We would have weekly meetings when we were in the office to go over any big things, but also were sat next to each other and could always speak to those above me whenever I wanted/ needed support or guidance. This has continued during the lockdown period while we have all been working from home with daily morning meetings alongside the use of teams for messaging.
I had a really good balance of work personally but I would say that this is mostly because I have very strong time management skills. My manager also encouraged me to take on only what I wanted to in terms of extra work so I was able to manage this to some degree. If time management is not something that you are good at I would definitely recommend trying to work on this before starting any placement as it can really affect how you feel about the work that you are doing.
I was given a really good amount of responsibility during my placement, but I definitely worked to earn it! I never felt that I was out of my depth always felt confident with what I was doing.
I feel like I learnt so much, not just in terms of work related skills, but also about what I want to do moving forward. Having the opportunity to experience working within this industry and this particular field has cemented in me that this is where I want to be!
The Company
There was a really good balance within the office in relation to the atmosphere. It was positive and encouraged a good working energy.
I found it fantastic. There is extra training that you are provided with alongside your actual placement which is really useful and there was always support available if you needed it.
Warner Bros definitely invest in their interns and make them feel as though their learning and development is as important as the "regular" workforce. There are multiple mandatory courses that you partake in which are focused just on the interns, as well as wider company training that you take part in.

I am really hoping to secure a job with Warner Bros once I have completed my degree and I feel like this is a string possibility for those who show their worth during their placement year. Two of the previous years interns have just been given jobs within my team so that highlights the prospects available if you work hard!
The Culture
All of the interns are introduced to each other early on and facebook groups are set up so that you can message one another with any questions etc. Social nights out are always going on on Thursday's and quite often groups will get together to have lunch together etc. There is no pressure though which is great so you can be as involved as you would like to be!
It's London so obviously it's not cheap, however students are pretty good at finding the bargains!
The office is quite central so good access to everywhere and lots of pubs in the general vicinity of the office.
There are opportunities to take part in gym sessions with others, get involved in charity work etc, there are also social events set up through different organisations within the company such as the LGBTQIA org, the BAME org and the Women of Warner org (just to name a few).
