The Role
I really enjoyed my placement year and got to experience a number of sectors and areas of the business. I felt like a valued member of the team and the company, whilst seeing the value of the work I was producing. I have developed greatly throughout my year personally and professionally, and have felt supported throughout this. I have loved the variety in my role and the opportunities in the business to do things outside of my role either in different departments or volunteering/getting involved in work committees and groups.
I felt like a full part of the team and did not feel seen as an intern at all, I even got the comments sometimes that people had not realised I was just on my placement year. My team were incredible and all very welcoming, helpful and always got me involved in projects and tasks they thought would be interesting and benefit me. Especially in recent months since I have decided on my dissertation topic.
I have felt supported throughout my placement. There are lots of measures in place to ensure that I have had people to ask for advice or help whenever I have needed it. My team is very open and I felt comfortable approaching every one of them. I have also had my manager, a mentor in my team and a mentor from another team as my direct support/supervising. I have felt that I have been given a lot of responsibility this year and have felt supported throughout it knowing that there was little risk in something being left to go wrong.
I love being busy and like balancing a number of tasks at the same time. As I had an events role there were times my workload was very high and other times it was slightly quieter but this was predictable and something I had expected- this allowed me in the quieter periods to focus on extra development goals that I wanted to complete. I have felt the right balance in my workload and have loved being involved in so many projects during my year.
I have had a number of projects and responsibilities throughout the year. During the year as I have gained more confidence I have been given a lot of responsibility with running webinars, especially in lockdown where I am now running a lot of webinars and was given a webinar license. This has been a great experience and I have learned a lot and met many teams. I have also loved being able to run and manage my own projects with great support this has developed my confidence and time management.
I have developed many skills on my placement, I feel a lot more confident as a person but also in my own abilities and I think this will really help me in my final year at uni as I know that I am able to achieve things as long as I put the effort and time in. I have seen what I can manage to achieve in just a day and this has definitely shown me how important it is to use your time wisely. I have also built my professional network around me and have loved meeting people across the business and engaging with a number of agencies.
The Company
I liked being in the office and the openness of it. I liked working around my team and being able to speak to them whenever I had a question.
I think that the placement was very well organised. I think the development days and the checkins during the year were very good and a good way to reflect on what had gone on so far. I liked learning about the different elements of the business and how they all interact. I did not feel like 'just an intern' during my year and really felt valued in the company. I think this is a great placement and really well organised.
I received all the support and development that I would have liked in my year. I was given a lot more responsibility than I would have thought and i really enjoyed that as it really made the work I was doing value and I had many opportunities to directly interact with customers and partners. I have been given a lot of advice on how to further develop and have set goals throughout my year.

Working from home
There are many job opportunities within the business, these are mostly sales roles. I would be really interested in returning to the company as I have loved the culture and drive of the teams, I would be wanting to stay within a similar department to what I was based in to my placement year. I am passionate about marketing, creating campaigns and interacting with customers and would love to carry on a similar role to this in the future.
The Culture
There was a number of social opportunities with the other interns, there were chances to interact in the office and also outside of work. I think there was a good balance.
I have lived at home during my placement year and commuted to the office everyday, this did mean over 2 hours driving a day but I did save a lot of money. Bracknell has been developed in recent years and is a nice area to work in with a number of restaurants and shops nearby.
There are a number of groups and committees at the company and I had the pleasure of being involved in a number of them. I loved being part of the marketing and comms committee and creating a quarterly newsletter. I also had the opportunities to get involved in intern, team and all company volunteering, Pride, sustainability projects
