The Role
I really enjoyed my placement year due to the amount of flexibility I was given but also how comfortable I was able to become. This allowed me to increase my overall confidence and the company's culture is truly one that cares about the employees and early careers overall.
Throughout the year my team had become a second family to me, I knew that I was able to trust and confide in them but also speak up when I needed help with something. They recognised my efforts and rewarded me for this through recognition and appraisals.
I was given clear guidance by my manager through having bi-weekly one to ones to check in with what I am currently doing and what my next steps are, as well as checking whether I am comfortable with the workload I had on.
Some days of the week were busier than others, but this gave me the flexibility to put in time for personal development and work on other ongoing tasks as well.
During my placement I was given quite a lot of responsibility, I could truly say that the placement role feels more like having an actual role with contributes towards overall success rather than 'just being an intern' which meant a lot in my development of overall transferable skills.
Getting involved in extra programmes at work allowed me to develop further learning about the company strategy as well as the products and services which are offered. It helped me with my degree studies and beyond, as sales is not something that is taught at university. It is something which you need to experience and develop from there which I felt this year has provided me with this methodology and technical knowledge.
The Company
The atmosphere is really great, you have a balance of work and fun. You are able to really let your personality shine through your work contributions, but then also celebrate your successes.
It was well organised, having an initial first month of handover to really clarify what I will be doing through the year whilst still having the support of the previous intern in case I had any questions.

The Culture
I was based in the London office therefore, travel did cost more however I lived at home for the year so I was able to save that way. Socialising was more expensive in London, however travelling to see some of the interns in Reading it was cheaper to socialise there.
Really good, great atmosphere with colleagues but also always somewhere new to explore.
A lot of charity volunteering opportunities in early careers and outside as well with the wider company. Manchester Pride was also a fun weekend.
