The Role
I really enjoyed my placement year at HPE, there was always something for the interns to get involved with, and this gave me a lot of different experiences in the company. I was also supported in my development. HPE is very supportive of their interns.
I felt valued by my colleagues. Every team is different however.
I was given a lot of support and guidance by not only my manager but the wider early careers team, they were very helpful. I was given the support to learn new skills and develop myself.
I was busy. This was good because I had a lot of responsibility.
I was given a large amount of responsibility, I felt like a real employee. The roles at HPE do not seem like the stereotypical intern roles, you are involved in real meaningful work!
The placement year has taught me so much, I am now in a great position to go back to university and apply for graduate roles with all of the skills I have developed. I received great training that has helped me to be more confident and ready for the workplace.
The Company
There was a great atmosphere in the office because there are so many interns!
The placement was very well organised. We had regular intern development days and sessions where all UKI interns would meet. We also had reviews with the early career leads to track our development and we could reach out if we had any issues.
The firm will heavily invest in you if you show you are committed.

The social aspect was great. There are so many interns that we always had a social event taking place. Even virtually we held socials.
I was in Reading and it was standard.
Reading Nightlife is great.
There were some activities.
