About You
It was a very busy week but incredibly informative. We had insight sessions into each practice area and sessions focussed on our development. Everyone was also incredibly receptive to taking the time to chat with me and tell me about their experiences with the firm.
I felt like the firm really wanted to give us an insight into life at Taylor Wessing and they did a very good job of it. Moreover, they dealt with the issues with COVID-19 and transitioning to a virtual vacation scheme really well. We were informed well in advanced and the week was put together well.
I received a lot of guidance from members throughout the firm. Everyone was very receptive to having virtual meet-ups with me and taking the time to discuss their experiences at the firm and in their respective practice areas. Moreover we were each given a supervisor and trainee buddy who I had daily meetings with.
There were a few sessions based on our personal development which was great and highlighted how the firm is really interested into developing you as a person. Moreover the insight sessions into the various practice areas at Taylor Wessing definitely furthered my understanding of the role of a lawyer in each practice area
The Company
The insight was very well structured. We had numerous talks each day and were always kept busy. This is particularly impressive given that the firm had to transition to a virtual vacation scheme. It would have been nice to have been involved in more work at my practice area but given the online limitations and how busy the scheme was there was no time.
Every person I met at Taylor Wessing has been incredibly friendly and given me a great impression of the firm. This extends not only to employees but also the vac schemers too. The friendly culture at the firm really impressed me.
The insight was excellent in this regard. I was able to speak to trainees from numerous departments to get a greater understanding of their role at the firm.
I was able to speak to a variety of people at the firm and it really helped me gain an accurate picture of the culture at the firm.
Everything Else
I was able to organise to meet lawyers from a variety of practice areas. Everyone was incredibly forthcoming and receptive to meet virtually.
Everyone was receptive to organising virtual meet ups and were incredibly friendly. I was also invited to virtual drinks in the practice area I was sat in. There are natural limitation with an online scheme but Taylor Wessing did a great job of mitigating this.
I managed to speak to numerous trainees about this and they all talked to me about what they were able to get involved in. Moreover, we had a Blackfriars session, which is an opportunity to take part in pro bono that many trainees are involved in. We were able to get great exposure to the types of cases they get involved in.
If they were interested in working at a law firm I would absolutely. One of the most friendly law firms I have encountered and very interesting work if you are interested in technology/ life sciences sectors.
