The Role
Really enjoyed my time at Randstad. Some days were slightly repetitive or quiet due to the market at that time. The office environment was great and really motivational which was helpful on the quieter days!
Everyone looked out for each other and helped out if a particular task was difficult. Placement students are treated the same as employees, and so any work we completed was needed for others.
My manager guided me the whole way through, from constructing professional emails when I began to meeting clients. We had monthly 1-2-1s to go over targets and any concerns which was helpful. My manager would help me to find new ways of reaching my targets for the following week/month if necessary.
Typically looking through various job boards, carrying out screening calls and meeting candidates. Arranging and helping candidates prepare for interviews. Some days were busier than other depending on the time of year and the number of active roles we had.
I had a lot of responsibility throughout the year. I maintained my own candidates, arranging to meet them and helping them through the recruitment process.
Time management was key throughout the year which is an aspect I want to carry on in my final year at university. Networking and keeping my LinkedIn profile up to date will be useful in the future once I graduate, which is something that would have been more difficult if I hadn’t had the advice.
The Company
Really good! A fair amount of noise so you don’t feel awkward during a phone call, but not too much that you can’t concentrate. Everyone was approachable and willing to offer help if needed. The environment was motivational with lots of incentives throughout the year to meet targets.
Everything was really well set up. The training days at Luton were useful as they were specifically designed for placement students so you were able to develop lots of transferable skills to use back at university. Randstad have an established placement student programme which meant everything was set up when we arrived.
Training at Luton was very beneficial and helped a lot throughout the year. As Randstad treated you as a normal employee, you don’t feel singled out as only being a placement student, and felt part of the team. Helping us to learn how to network professionally will help us in the future.

I would work at Randstad again. I enjoyed working in the office with my team and would work in the same team again.
The Culture
Friday drinks after work were good with the office and the placement students would also go out on other drinks nights too.
Expensive but usual for central London.
Lots of different bars and pubs around the office!
