The Role
This internship at Hewlett Packard Enterprise provides its interns with an amazing opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative company, gaining amazing experience and knowledge in the industry. The internship program developed at HPE allows interns to have great responsibility and exposure to key business areas while being supported so that interns can get the most out of this program. I have thoroughly enjoyed this placement and have developed and progressed more than I could have ever expected
Hewlett Packard Enterprises has a great culture based on people. This means that employee recognition is really important and is believed in from the leadership team downwards. This culture is reflected throughout the organisation and means that interns really feel valued within the organisation, often being recognized for their hard work and efforts. While I was working at HPE, I did not feel like an 'intern,' I felt like a valued member of the team.
The internship program at HPE provides its interns with support and guidance throughout their internship with the Early Careers Team being easily contactable if you ever need them. In the team which I worked in, there were many points of contact who I could reach out to if I ever needed support, guidance or help. You are allocated a manger who you talk to very daily and have regular 1 to 1's where you can discuss your role and development throughout the year.
During my internship, I believe my workload was almost perfectly balanced. This year, it was very important for me to get the most out of the year and try and learn as much as I possibly could. Therefore I wanted to take on and get invoked in as much as possible. HPE gave me the opportunity and freedom to do this, giving me responsibility so that I could learn and develop as much as I could.

HPE gave me the opportunity and freedom to do this, enabling me to gain experience and responsibility so that I could develop and progress as much as possible. This responsibility also helped me to gain confidence greatly.
During my internship, I was exposed to many key business areas, from Marketing to Finance, from Sales to Procurement. This has meant that I have been able to apply what I have learnt in theory from University and Lectures into real life scenarios. As I return to University, I know that I will be able to apply what I have learned this year and understand theories much better from seeing them being applied in real life. From this internship, I have realized the career path which I want to take.
The Company
HPE has offices located across the UK and I was based in the London and Brackell office. As there is a big intern community in both offices, the atmosphere was always fun and energetic.
The HPE internship was incredibly well run and we had various sessions throughout the year which helped us develop both professionally and personally. Throughout the program you have regular catch ups with the 'Early Careers' Team who help you track your development and progress throughout the year. Each intern is also assigned a mentor who you meet with regularly. This buddy system is great as you have 1:1 coaching sessions where you can explore potential career paths and come up with a Personal Development Plan which helps you get the most out of the year.

HPE is very appealing for future employment prospects. They offer several different Grad Schemes, including sales and pre-sales grad schemes which enable you to develop, aiding you to become more successful in the future. Through this internship, I also saw personally that HPE provide there employees with great career progression and development, always encouraging their employees to get the most out of the job and progress up the career ladder.
The Culture
Within HPE, you have several intern committees, including a social committees who work to bring the intern cohort together, arranging for example, team building exercises and sporting events.
HPE encourages it's interns to get involved in as many activities outside of work as possible. The HPE Charity Committee regularly organised group excursions to help the surrounding area by helping the wider communities, schools and charities
