    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the virtual experience that I took part in as I got to understand the culture at Jefferies and what makes them unique as a pure-play investment bank. I was able to learn about their different parts of the business and became fascinated in certain roles which I previously was not interested in due to a lack of knowledge. All of the speakers were very engaging and gave a very positive report on how they handled day-to-day events.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt extremely valued during the virtual experience as, despite my lack of knowledge in detailed parts of their roles, all of the speakers made it extremely easy to follow and understand a basic overview of their role. There was also a good break halfway through the experience which allowed me to take a break without missing any vital information and that made me revitalised for the rest of the session. This in total was beneficial to making me feel valued.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the virtual experience?
  • Despite there not being any direct work to do during the virtual experience that I had with Jefferies, I still believe to a great extent that I received adequate support and guidance throughout the virtual experience. This was executed through the use of visual aids in the form of a presentation and allowing sufficient time to field questions after each speech by various representatives. Without such important support, I do not believe that my experience would have been as insightful.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The information that I received in the virtual experience hosted by Jefferies was vital in terms of learning what I want from my own career in terms of what specifically I would like to work in. The virtual experience reinforced the fact that in order to get into a position such as the people giving insightful speeches I would need to maintain working hard as there is a lot of competition for graduate roles that I am interested in.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the virtual experience?
  • I believe that the structure of the virtual experience was set up very well as none of the speeches were lacking in information and too short while also not going on for an excessive amount of time. The break was well-positioned and there was more than enough time to have questions from my peers answered. There were some issues regarding the technology when it came to the Q&A session with analysts but I still was able to learn a lot about their day-to-day lifestyle at Jefferies.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your virtual experience?
  • The general atmosphere during the virtual experience was extremely positive and all of the people speaking spoke very highly of Jefferies and how well the investment bank was performing in recent year in comparison to its rivals. They spoke with a passion which could only be present if the roles they were in truly excited them and they seemed to enjoy their regular interactions with clients they are working with. It was clear that the firm had a very positive environment.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm had a whole session based on diversity and the people speaking spoke highly of the culture. They invested in my development by showing every part of their business and gave excellent insight into each part and allowed me to find where I could be able to see myself within their firm. The virtual experience sparked further my drive to reach the goals that I have set out and has shown me where I could reach with a dedication to my development.

  • 8. To what extent did the virtual experience help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The best part about the virtual experience from Jefferies, in my opinion, was how the insight that was provided by them about their business made it easy for me to see what it would be like to have a full-time role there. This was done by giving a detailed breakdown of the largest parts of the industry as well as allowing analysts who were a few years ahead in their career progression giving a perspective on the firm.

  • 9. How much did the virtual experience help you in understanding the company culture?
  • 4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content that was provided by Jefferies in the virtual experience has given me valuable insight into what my future career path will be as prior to taking part in the event, I was keen on going to work for an asset management firm. After having completed the virtual experience I am now also very interested in working in equity research as the role is very similar to what I was willing to do in asset management and also it seems like a very rewarding role to have in terms of client communication.
