    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
  • I enjoyed learning about the bank's new purpose and strategy, and how it is implemented in practice. The speaker and HR development sessions were engaging, well designed and well delivered. However, it would have been even better if we could shadow some graduates on their jobs and work on a project or practical work sample and receive feedback on our work.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Graduates were very helpful and willing to take time out of their day to speak to us and share their experiences over Zoom. We also had people in leadership positions speak to us about their career journeys and how everyone in the firm contributes to making a positive impact.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the virtual experience?
  • My graduate buddy was very helpful in answering my questions during our weekly check-in calls. He helped me make the most of my internship by connecting me with other graduates to speak to and held me accountable to the goals I set out to achieve every week.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The sessions organised by the Data & Analytics department were very useful in giving us an insight into the different roles and aspects of data landscape at the bank, including the importance of data engineering and data privacy and ethics. We had interesting discussions about machine learning explainability and tackling bias in algorithms, which is highly relevant in the data science field. The interpersonal skills I developed through working with a team for the fundraising challenge, as well as the networking and career planning skills from the development sessions, will prove invaluable in my future undertakings.
