    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
  • I very much enjoyed the experience. This was a great way for students like me to gain an insight into the various divisions, culture, and initiatives at Jefferies. Jefferies ensured that we had the opportunity to hear from numerous professionals, allowing us to form a better picture about how it is to work at Jefferies. Furthermore, the opportunity to ask questions was very helpful in maintaining a constant flow of interaction between students and professionals.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Given that this was just an insight event, I will answer the question in the context of a short experience. The fact that the team at Jefferies took the time to organise such an event encourages me that the team truly cares about its initiatives to hire a diverse set of candidates. We were told about how the company works to support its employees and I was pleased to see the lengths to which the firm goes to do so.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the virtual experience?
  • Given that this was a 300+ people event, I was happy with the way our questions were answered. When there was a technical issue with the break-out room feature, the organising team quickly adapted and ensured that us students could still interact with the analysts.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • In terms of preparing me to apply to Jefferies, this was an extremely useful and important event. I gained a good understanding of the job profile for an analysts in the division I wish to apply to, an insight into the responsibilities, and an understanding of the firm's culture.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the virtual experience?
  • There was a well-defined structure that was adhered to. Furthermore, the event was structured in a way that allowed a potential candidate to learn about all the important aspects of working at Jefferies.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your virtual experience?
  • The atmosphere, given this was an event that had to be held online due to current circumstances, was very good. We were encouraged to ask questions and the professionals provided insightful answers in a friendly manner.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Again, I will answer this in the context of the event. The Analysts clearly communicated that Jefferies cares about their professional development through a collaborative and flat structure. Their examples and anecdotes convinced me that the professionals form genuine friendships with their colleagues.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the virtual experience help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • To a great extent. As mentioned, from the way the event was structured to the depth with which insights were given, the event enabled us to formulate a solid understanding on what it is like to work at Jefferies.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the virtual experience help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The event was a valuable source in helping me understand the culture. By hearing from Analysts up to Managing Directors, I learnt about the firm's focus on meeting its clients needs through a collaborative and entrepreneurial work culture.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • In terms of helping me decide on which position I wish to apply to in Jefferies, very valuable.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • This was a virtual insight event. There was no travel nor was this an internship.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes, we were given access to a size-able number of professionals who could answer our questions. Given this was a virtual event, it would not be fair to expect networking as it is done in person. Regardless, the Q&A parts of the event were well executed.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • As mentioned, they were relatively organic even though the event was virtual. Our questions, which were on a wide variety of topics, were always answered with a good level of depth.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes. Apart from the employee network groups, the professionals discussed events held for charitable causes. Furthermore, going back to the point about forming friendships at Jefferies, there is an opportunity to meet colleagues outside of work. This is helped by the fact that collaboration and teamwork are given a lot of emphasis at Jefferies.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this virtual experience to a friend?
  • Absolutely, for all the reasons mentioned above.
