About You
I was so glad to find out that NatWest would put on a virtual experience for their summer interns in these challenging times. I really enjoyed getting to know my fellow interns, learning about the Goup's operations and engaging in some exciting live activities.
This place is like a big family! Everyone is extremely friendly and open to answering question. They take a real interest in helping you start your career.
In general, there was no need for support because there were few issues. Wherever career guidance or bank-related questions came up, we were encouraged to contact our grad buddies who were extremely helpful. Technical and admin issues were tackled well, although one or two situations/responses were not ideal.
Our seminars covered a range of soft skills (e.g. relationship building) as well as technical information about the bank. Developing these soft skills will prove really valuable at university and the workplace when it comes to group work, forming connections and staying proactive. The technical information about NatWest means I will be prepared for a role in the Group in the future.
The Company
On the whole, the experience was well-structured with each of the 4 weeks having a specific theme (intro, role specific, skills development, etc) - this made it easy to go into each week mentally prepared. Each Zoom session was facilitated by a HR member and had a well-defined structure: intro --> presentation --> live Q&A.
Great! All the speakers, grads and interns reflected the values of NatWest, displaying strong communication, collegiality and a drive for excellence.
