About You
It's the best thing that has ever happened to me in the course of my professional development. Despite being virtual the firm was able to successfully bring all the experience one could ever imagine to my door step. I absolutely enjoy my virtual experience,it actually show case discipline, one's ability to work under little supervision, every one was willing to help so as to make the best out of the experience, yes it was virtual for me, and again it wasn't.
Since day one on the job,I felt being part of the team, everyone walk the talk on the aspect of diversity and inclusion. I was fortunate to be on the that sees everyone as core and the bond within the team was absorbed by everyone including myself,I never felt like a stranger, I felt like an important figure within the team, everyone wants to hear your perspective, they want to hear your story and not only hear them, but because it matters and it makes a difference.
I received 100% support/guidance during my virtual experience, the technology team were on standby in the case of any technical issue. Everyone within the firm were willing to support you, guide you, introduce you to people and acquaint you with the firms culture. I was surprised that everyone wants to run through my project for me,also everyone wants to help contribute to my project, their support were valid and not always short of expectations. They honestly wants to be of help.
The bulk of skills I developed and information I received were never waste of time, they were priceless. They made me realize there's more to this world than I have seen in the past years through the lens of the classroom, what I learnt in the space of my internship supersede, what I learnt over my stay in school. They were all marketable skills and information that will make one stay ahead of peers and in ones career path.
The Company
It seems the firm has master planners behind everything,it was planned in such a way that you will never have a chance to feel this actually waste of time. Everything was well structured to the best it can be,and I most say kudos to those behind that
The atmosphere was fun and it wasn't boring at all, I enjoyed every bit of the moment and I never wanted it to end, every one was at their best and with such it created an un ended fun atmosphere, with competition coming into play,it was indeed an amazing atmosphere and I will love to experience it again and again.
The firm really did invested in me ranging from inviting external bodies to train us and make sure we were prepared for the job,I'll say it was beyond my expectation,I really didn't expect such. Online education platform facilitators were invited to prepare us from basic to climax on necessary skills need to succeed not only on the internship, but in our career quest, which i see as a huge professional gesture. This investment did shined through on every intern on the job.
I was given absolute hands on experience, working along side my teammates actually gave me a great insight into what a full time role actually looks like,so I can say it actually exposed me to the needed aspect of the on job experience. Working alongside my teammate, gave me an avenue to ask questions beyond what I was working on,but also around their career at the firm, what their daily task on the jobs looks like and what are those things required to carry that out,my summer project span across the aforementioned areas,I quite understood what the full time role looks like.
I will say they tried their best, doing everything possible to make sure we get a taste of the firms culture, but the fact that it isn't in person makes this not that evident, and office remain a center where corporate culture can be demonstrate and exact, with my internship being virtual,I wasn't able to get a whole lot about the companies culture, but I had glimpse of what it looks like with the people. Everyone was willing to aid ones learning curve and support ones growth, it shows what kind of exist within the office.
This is my first internship experience, and the fact that it wasn't a wrong first step after all made me to be happy with what I have learned, which has became a crucial decider on my career path. What I learnt over the course of the internship is more than what I have learnt since start of my journey in the finance terrain,so it actually laid a great foundation for me,which I will go on to build a might empire upon.
Everything Else
In terms of compensation the firm tried on this,I commend them. Every bit was cater for,and I was reimbursed for my expenses. Despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic which is had on many firms, the firm still make sure we were adequately paid for the experience and also reimbursed for all expense. So in the aspect of compensation, the firm did really tried compensating me
The firm did organize several sessions where senior executives delivered speech, this indeed did not allow us to know them but also get to network with them, also beyond that everyone was willing to introduce you to people, i requested to be introduced to people and a lot came my way, despite the fact that it was virtual environment, the firm did maintain an atmosphere in which one can easily navigate himself/herself to meet people and engage them to get the best insight about the experience.
Everything was absolutely perfect and it provides an avenue to really engage people and meet people on a global landscape rather than in a particular region in the case of in person. The fact that this was virtual gave me the ability to leverage on the the internship experience which wasn't concentrated in one region but across different regions this was actually a nice experience, meeting executives and interns across regions. This actually provide an avenue to network on a wide scale.
Yeah, they are a lot of them, they were several competition hosted for sport lovers and also volunteer activities that employee can dedicate their time to,even employee can activate their willing volunteer hours,by taking some time off work to do what they love,so things like them are very interesting for people who like to do different things aside from work. The firm takes this serious, there is an avenue to let people know how many hours you've dedicated to doing this.
Absolutely, if needs warrant,I mean in the absent of limited option such as this. This is the new normal now,and the firm was swift to adapt within limited space of time and was able to deliver in an amazing manner. I would definitely recommend for a friend. There's no better option /substitute for the in person experience better than this, for me it was a game changer, and I will recommend it for anyone beyond a friend.
