About You
The virtual experience was no doubt an adjustment for everyone but what made it particularly easy to do was how the bank conducted it. Everyone was very hands on and willing to jump on calls once I reached out, even though sometimes technology stood in the way but they were all so accommodating of the minor glitches. All in all it was a great experience getting to create meaningful connections and do great work remotely
This is one part of the bank and the people that work there and that’s the welcoming and warm aura they all have. I particularly loved talking with everyone because they all related to me like I was family, my ideas were never shut down and they were very accommodating of my numerous questions. Even during our sessions with the senior leaders there was no form of hierarchical barrier it seemed like they were talking with their children.
I received so much guidance and support from every single person. I will particularly highlight that from HR. They were very involved in our placement and making sure we are treated well and have the right information throughout the internship. This was also felt through the open door policy that was created by senior leaders we were very free to email them and ask for help. The teams were also fantastic in making sure I was well supported
The skills are very relevant for me in particular because I am studying economics and a lot of what I did was macroeconomic based. I now have a better understanding of theories I was taught in school because I have seen and experienced the practical aspect of it. Also, the soft skills I’ve been able to garner during this time will come in very handy in communicating with students, people generally and any other setting I may find myself
The Company
The virtual experience was well structured, we had an app to teach our activities, and we knew what to do per time although sometimes things didn’t go as planned but that was promptly communicated with us and the necessary adjustments were made. The trainings were also very well structured as we had our timetable for that, in addition, working on the desks, the managers and buddies tried to make sure we were communicating daily on our project updates
The general atmosphere was great!
The firm invested greatly in our training as we had 2 weeks of training all of which was geared towards improving our skills. This was a very welcomed initiative because the skills we were taught will put us ahead of our peers and distinguish us even in school. We also had access to the best in various fields from the technicals to soft skills we were adequately invested in and these skills will remain with us
It really created a great insight into learning what it would be like to work at the firm as everyone tried to make it seem real and incorporated daily activities into it
The company culture was greatly embedded into every day as we had a specific session about it but beyond that it was carried throughout the firm and felt all around
The content helped me decipher what I liked and what I didn’t as we were exposed to different desks and had opportunities to learn all about them
Everything Else
They created these such meetings and networking sessions and we were encouraged to reach out to people to arrange virtual coffees and virtual catch up calls
The sessions were very fun in getting to know new people and hearing their thoughts on certain topics and their opinions on it
Yes, we were going closed to a lot of volunteering activities and I took part in one of them during my time
Absolutely! It was so much fun
