About You
The internship was very well structured despite it being virtual. I believe Bank of America was a leading bank among its peers to provide such a well-structured internship programme this year. Sessions were very well organized and well communicated. We got to network and meet key leaders within the bank and industry during the programme. I would rate it 9/10 because I made the most of the internship despite the virtual setting.
I felt very valued by Bank of America during my time interning with the bank. Bank of America is committed to so many ESG initiatives which I very much appreciate. The Bank is also leading in its commitment to creating a very diverse and inclusive work environment for its employees - not just evidenced by its $1bn commitment to racial equality over the next four years, but also evidenced by circumstances I personally observed within the teams. I would rate it 10/10 because of this.
We got lots of materials we needed and attended satisfactory sessions during the internship. Where we needed more guidance as to understanding a product or function, the team was always available to put up another session for further explanation. We were also assigned mentors, managers and buddies to guide us or point us to the right material, people or resources for more clarification. I would rate it 10/10 because of this.
I am done with my bachelors. But I would say the skills that I developed are not just useful for my undergraduate studies but also very helpful to set me on the right track per my post-bachelor studies and throughout my career and life. We also developed transferrable skills that will be useful for us to become leaders of the future generation. I would rate it 9/10 because of this. Well done Bank of America.
The Company
Pretty well structured. Sessions were very well organized and well communicated. I got to network with teammates and meet key leaders within the bank and industry during my internship programme at Bank of America. We participated in rewarding extracurriculars such as ESG exercises, mentoring of students, games and challenges and it all went smoothly. We also did group presentations via Webex which I feel was very amazing. I would rate it 9/10 because I made the most of the internship despite the virtual setting.
The virtual atmosphere was great. Bank of America prides itself in providing a very ambient and encouraging atmosphere for its employees to make an impact. I got the feel of this during my internship. Everyone was very willing to help and support us during our programme. Everyone I reached out to helped me to achieve my goals despite how complicated it seemed because of the virtual setting. I would rate it 10/10 because I made the most of the internship specifically because Bank of America provided me with the environment to be my best.
I would rate it 10/10 max rating because I believe that the bank's culture was very genuinely pronounced in the virtual setting. It's easier to see through a companies deficiency in culture in a virtual setting because things are generally harder in the WFH environment than at the office. Despite this, everyone was genuinely willing to help and the teamwork spirit of the bank was apparent. I would definitely choose this environment over any other. Bank of America is a great place to work.

Everything Else
We were paid very generously and reimbursed on every personal expense that we incurred during the virtual experience. This included telephone expenses, internet expenses etc. In addition, Bank of America provided all its employees and interns with good Laptops and Fuel expenses for generator (as an alternative source of power during power outages for the African interns). We were also gifted different sorts of merchandises and materials (such as face masks etc) that would enable us to thrive in the WFH environment.
I would definitely recommend and I have already started recommending this internship to friends and qualified acquaintances that I believe would provide value to the bank and also benefit from the internship. Bank of America has changed my career course for the better. I believe it would be great for other young graduates like me to also benefit from this opportunity. Hence, I would rate recommending the experience at Bank of America to others a 10/10 max rating.
