    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
  • I enjoyed my virtual day with Barnett Waddingham. I thought the small group Q&As were particularly good as the Barnett Waddingham actuaries were really great at answering any questions we had. Furthermore they had a 30 minute Q&A about exams where I learnt so much about the structure of the exams that I didn’t know before. Also the larger sessions were very useful to help us learn about the structure and values of the company.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Everyone was extremely welcoming. As I mentioned before they were very open to questions throughout the day. They explained to us the supportive mentality of the company and everyone seemed very cheerful and proud to work for the company which was comforting to see.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the virtual experience?
  • We received great support during the day.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt so much during the day. We first learnt about the values of working at the company and how to go about your job in the best possible way. We also had great overviews about the different departments in the company. They also went through some of the tools they use as actuaries which was great as it gave a good insight into what they do on a day to day basis. Furthermore we had a session on exams which showed me how my studies would continue after my degree.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the virtual experience?
  • It was brilliantly structured. We had longer talks mixed in with smaller sessions which meant we weren’t just doing the same thing all day. Also there were small breaks in between some of the sessions which meant we were never behind schedule and it also gave as chance to be away from our screens for a bit which was nice.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your virtual experience?
  • The atmosphere was extremely friendly and welcoming.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The idea of the day was so that we could get more information about the company. We didn’t do much skill training.

    3/5

  • 8. To what extent did the virtual experience help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • We got a great look into the companies environment and structure. We also got a small look into what we would be doing if we worked there.
