    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
  • Even though the internship was done virtually I think that the company really did good job for making it enjoyable. The trainings were interactive, they put in place networking sessions that were useful to ask questions to different departments of the bank. I also really enjoyed the projects I had to do at the end of each week.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I don't think any interns should get valued if they didn't do a great job. Having said that it's also important to be valued when you do. At the end of each week I had to do an investment pitch since most of the content is gotten internally it was important to be able to present at ease and any times sometimes multiple times a week. Since public speaking is my strong aspect I was able to complete that task and got valued for it.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the virtual experience?
  • Each desk have a different way to guide or support their intern depending on the nature of the job. As a Equity Sales intern, to do a good job you need to be able to read and analyse fast events and be able to pitch anything anytime. Public speaking is not really something you can learn to an intern. So I would say I wasn't given much guidance but I could ask all questions I had and had to incorporate remarks for the next time.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think that not most academic courses are directly useful for a job you might have. What I learned definitely makes me more confident for my future but I don't think it will specifically help me in my last year of university for my degree. My logic is that it should be the other-way around

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the virtual experience?
  • Half of the internship was trainings and the other half was work on the desk. For the former it was very well structured which is normal since the company hires consultants to give the training. For the second half it was not as structured but this depended on the desk. Mine was more like I had 4 days of the week to prepare for the 5th day which was the critical day to impress to get the full time offer.
