About You
A very worthwhile experience, where I gained useful information about the career ahead. However, I felt that it was a little long. I almost felt the same material could have been covered in a little less time and there was some repetition. Or they could potentially cut a session or two out. Furthermore maybe having a session where I did some work, maybe worked on a short group task, discussing with other interns and then going over potential answers with an Employee would have been good!
I get a very good sense of the nice culture at BW from the assessment day and this was carried into the summer internship day, which portrays the care they have for their staff. It starts with Erik being very transparent and giving the personal touch. Also having ex Senior Partner Nick Salter giving a talk emphasised how much they value their interns as he has gave up time in his very busy schedule to speak to us.
You got as much support as you needed over the day. This resulted in being able to ask as many questions as I liked but also speaking to current employees who would offer their valueable insights into life at BW. Furthermore a little off topic Erik is always at hand to offer support at any time you need it.
It gave me an opportunity to mix with other students I didn’t know, which helped improve my communication skills. It also gave me an insight into the potential career path which has further provided more motivation to succeed in my degree.
The Company
It was very well structured with all sessions running to timings set out by the plan which I was emailed days in advance. Also I had no technological issues so it was easy to access the online event.
All employees and interns seemed enthusiastic and excited which led to a cheerful and relaxed atmosphere on the day.
They have went out their way to set up a Internship day to benefit Interns like me which is much appreciated. They have gave me a goodwill payment which also makes me feel valued!
BW did as well as they could to convey what the day to day life would be without being able to be in the office and do it in first person. The information definitely helped me gain a better understanding of what is involved in a full time position.
This experience was very similar to my assessment day where I got a good understanding of the culture at BW, highlighting that it would be an attractive company to work for!
Again I feel the employees did the very best they could to display the kind of work the career involves.
Everything Else
I was not paid for this experience however was given a goodwill payment for the internship being cancelled. This payment would still have been paid to me even if I didn’t attend this virtual internship day.
Several employees left their email address which allows me to email them any further questions I have.
Current employees illustrated several social events related to BW when business is back to normal (I.e without Covid)
Yes, employees spoke about several office and nationwide events that you get to experience as an employee. This ranged from 5-a-side football to the Christmas night out. This was very excited and appealing to here.
Yes, it was definitely worthwhile and I’m glad I joined the session.
