    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
  • The experience was very different from previous year internships, yet at the same time very well organised. We had the chance to interact directly with all the team to which we have been assigned and discuss with them our view of the job, of the industry and of the bank. The experience was more in general well rounded. We have been provided with a complete training and with job-like experience. Downside was related to working hours, very different from employment working hours.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I had the impression that over all the team was committing a lot of time to my internship and selection process. I have been very happy about it, they have supported me thorough the process and encouraged me to give my best. The fact that everyone found time for it was very important to me. Also seeing that seniors were interested in the selection of juniors and committed time to phone calls and personal discussions was important.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the virtual experience?
  • I think it was very much in line with what the program required. I have never felt abandoned or overlooked, while at the same time I was left with enough independence to organise my work stream. I think that it was the right compromise between independence and guidance and I have really appreciated it. At the same time, whenever I needed help, I felt like I was able to receive it and someone was there for me.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • On the one hand, it was not the first experience in the field. Therefore, many of the technical skills developed were not completely new, even if slightly more specific under certain extent. On the other hand it was the first virtual experience therefore I felt like I had the chance to develop specific soft skills related to the virtual environment which will certainly be beneficial in the future both professionally and academically. This was at least my impression.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the virtual experience?
  • As already stated the experience was well rounded and well structured. We had to deal with many different activities and tasks which helped us develop a wider skill set. Moreover, the experience was very different from previous year internships, yet at the same time very well organised. We had the chance to interact directly with all the team to which we have been assigned and discuss with them our view of the job, of the industry and of the bank. The experience was more in general well rounded. We have been provided with a complete training and with job-like experience.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your virtual experience?
  • I had the impression that in general everyone was committed to making the most out of the extraordinary conditions in which the internship was taking place. With regards to the team and the bank side, people were committed to making the best choice in terms of selection and committed time and energy to it. With regards to juniors, everyone was committed to giving the best, being selected and enjoying the virtual experience as much as possible.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had the chance to interact directly with all the team to which we have been assigned and discuss with them our view of the job, of the industry and of the bank. The experience was more in general well rounded. We have been provided with a complete training and with job-like experience. Both this last two points helped us developing hard skills. While networking and volunteering helped us develop soft skills. I think the bank invested a lot in our improvement.

  • 8. To what extent did the virtual experience help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The experience was very different from previous year internships, yet at the same time very well organised. We had the chance to interact directly with all the team to which we have been assigned and discuss with them our view of the job, of the industry and of the bank. The experience was more in general well rounded. We have been provided with a complete training and with job-like experience. This all helped in understanding the job. The only downside as already discussed was related to working hours and understanding the commitment. This was missing.

  • 9. How much did the virtual experience help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Talking to all the team members was very helpful in this sense. Moreover, whenever we wanted we could also reach out to people in other teams, different from ours. This was helpful in understanding the firm culture. Also executive speeches helped in this sense. Hearing from executives allowed us to understand what was important to them, as well as which direction is the bank leadership following. This was good in order to grasp an understanding of the culture.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Besides the fact that we didn’t realise the effort that the job requires it was very helpful. In my personal case understanding a bit the behaviour of the other team members was the most precious aspect when making the career choice. In particular understanding that the people I will work with are enjoyable besides being highly skilled was extremely important. What I value besides learning as much as possibile is of course enjoying the workplace.
