The Role
I loved my internship. The culture is inclusive, which made me feel welcomed and appreciated. I would really recommend UBS as a working place.
My work has always been appreciated by my colleagues and my manager. I felt that I was being a part of a team and that my work really mattered. Also, whenever I struggled with a task, my team was really devoted in helping me out, which made me feel valued.
Whenever I had an issue with the task, my manager has been there for me. He was also flexible in regard to my knowledge along with the project he assigned me to complete, which I really appreciated.
I would say that it was the perfect balance. I felt that the project was stimulating and challenging, but also really enjoyable. Also, throughout the internship program, we had several insightful events, which also was a big plus for me.
I felt that I was given the perfect amount of responsibility as an intern. I did not feel overloaded, but at the same time, I felt that my project has been a positive contribution for the team.
I was lucky enough to complete a training from which I've also received a certification, which I can include in my CV. Also, I would say that my interpersonal skills improved as I was included in my team's weekly meetings. Beyond that, I improved my coding skills which will further help me throughout my career pathway.
The Company
Due to Covid-19, we weren't able to work at the office. However, the virtual environment was really enjoyable.
I would say 10 out of 10 as I felt that I learned something new daily. Moreover, throughout the 5 weeks of the internship, we had more than 15 insightful events with senior employees.
Considering that a part of the internship consisted in completing a training, I would say that UBS invests in the development of their employees.
Working from home
I would really love to continue working for UBS as it offers an amazing culture and work environment.
The Culture
We had several events, which encouraged a good social scene. During the first week, we had an event called "80 minutes around the world", which was a great introduction to my fellow colleagues.
Unfortunately, we were not able to work at the office. However, after taking part in the assessment centre, I stopped for a salad and the cost of the meal was pretty low.
Unfortunately, I did not have a chance to experience it, but from what I have understood from my friends, the nightlife in Liverpool Street is pretty amazing. Also, Shoreditch is nearby, which has a lot of restaurants/pubs.
I would say yes, considering the number of events that UBS has organised for the interns.
