The Role
Despite the internship taking place virtually, it was a really enjoyable experience and Barclays ensured we were involved in interesting projects, interactive training sessions and networking opportunities.
All colleagues were really nice and very approachable.
Management offer continuous advice and constructive feedback on your work, this has been vital for my progress and development.
Vey busy! Lot's of catch-ups, intern events, project work and team meetings.
I was given the responsibility to lead on a project which was very impactful for the Bank and had the opportunity to present to senior stakeholders on a regular basis.
As the internship took place virtually this year, this gave me the opportunity to develop new skills to work under this new work environment. Dynamic working is becoming increasingly popular, and starting my career experiencing these new changes has shown that I am adaptable to overcoming challenges in the future.
The Company
It is difficult to understand the atmosphere when working virtually, but all colleagues I spoke to were friendly and supportive.
There are a lot of online training programmes to complete independently and HR ran regular sessions to help us learn more about Barclays and the different departments.
Working from home
There seems to be a lot of opportunity to move around different areas of the Bank.
The Culture
It was difficult to socialise with fellow interns as we were all working virtually.
No costs for me - living at home and under lockdown restrictions.
Lockdown restrictions prevent us from enjoying the nightlife.
A few quiz sessions were organised.
