The Role
It was very engaging and it allowed me to learn so much. I got a really good insight into what the team does, got involved with projects and felt very valued.
Everyone was very keen to help out and they took any questions or suggestions I had with seriousness. I got to attend all the team meetings and have one-to-one conversations with senior members.
If ever I was unsure about anything my team was really good at supporting me. They took the time to book in phone calls and explain everything thoroughly until I understood. My line manager worked closely with me on a daily basis to ensure I got the best possible understanding.
Everyday I lost track of time. The schedule was super engaging.
In terms of my internship I would say I was given freedom to collaboratively dictate where my time was being spent. I definitely got to handle work independently, though as my role was quite technical most of my time was focused around learning.
It is not so related to my degree however I can definitely say the added confidence and better time management will go a long way in my degree. I also learnt how to break down very big concepts into smaller and more easier to digest ones, this will go a long way with statistics.
The Company
Everyone was friendly, quite funny and very relaxed. It did not feel tense, I felt like I belonged.
I have to say, outside of technology issues the team did a fantastic job at ensuring they got the programming running in the first place, let alone this well.
They gave us Excel and Financial Markets training which brought everyone up to speed. We also had leadership training which helped with self development. It was also good hearing from senior members in various divisions.
Flexi Time
Working from home
I would love to come back. The culture, professionalism and overall vision of the bank is one to be proud of. Hopefully I get the graduate role.
The Culture
My team had bi-weekly catch ups which were great and all the risk interns attended catch up calls weekly just to unwind.
During COVID there were none, however the bank is usually really good at this.
