About You
I enjoyed the vacation scheme immensely as it was a great opportunity to learn a lot more about the firm, and also to develop personally through the challenges faced at work. I gained a better understanding of what the real estate department does in practice, and also about different aspects of life as a trainee at BCLP. My supervisors were very supportive and guided me through the questions I had, and always provided helpful feedback for my assignments.
I felt very supported and valued at the firm. I appreciate how the firm invested a lot of resources in vac schemers, whether it's through workshops for us or through the day-to-day guidance provided by our trainee buddies and supervisors. My supervisors would explain to me in detail about the background of my assignments and their significance, so that I was able to visualise the nature and position of my contribution within the whole project.
The Company
The Scheme was very well structured with daily workshops, virtual meetings with different departments (e.g. Innovation, Pro Bono) and social activities like lunch with the partners and associates. Even during my WFH week, I was in close contact with my trainee buddy and supervisors and had a continuous stream of tasks to work on. I appreciate how vac schemers were given opportunities to learn about different aspects of working at the firm, including actual client work, professional development and socialising amongst co-workers. I also appreciate how we were given guidance for the assessments and presentation.
I gained a better understanding of life as a trainee through attending meetings with staff members and also through chatting with my trainee buddy.
I learnt a lot more about the pro bono initiatives and workplace culture of BCLP through this vacation scheme. For example, we had a virtual meeting with members of the Diversity Team, which gave me a better understanding of BCLP's commitment to diversity and inclusivity.
Everything Else
We had social events such as associate lunch, happy hours drinks and a farewell party on Friday. It was great to learn more about the company culture and other co-workers within an informal setting.
