The Role
All the staff were super friendly and welcoming and I was made to feel a part of the team
The staff took their time to help me and answer any questions I had
The buyer who was in charge could not have been more supportive and ensured her team looked after me. She has since been in touch to see how my degree is going and has offered any additional help needed
I was never left with nothing to do, the team were always giving me jobs or letting me shadow them to learn new things, the days flew by and the jobs I was given were enjoyable and not overwhelming/stressful
I learnt so many skills and developed knowledge that I hadn’t learnt on my degree that I will take into my work. My work experience also helped me complete dissertation
The Company
The office was huge and full of different teams, however after a few days almost everyone had introduced themselves and taken the time to talk to me. The team I worked in were super friendly and couldn’t have been more welcoming.
Matalan made sure I had all the training packages that a starter would be given, this gave me the foundation knowledge about the company and they expect and how what the job role would be if I were to be in that position. They invested lots of time in answering any questions and taking me through different processes
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
I wouldn’t definitely apply for a position at matalan if one were to occur. The work ethic and prospects for progression are excellent as well as the friendliness of their employees
The Culture
This does not apply as I was the only student on placement at that time.
The head office I was working in was within driving distance from my home and therefore my cost of living would not change much
This is something I did not experience
