The Role
This placement gave me the opportunity to see how the children’s wear team worked and designed, I had many opportunities to design and creat prints for future design projects along with helping members of the team with different tasks ready for there deadlines,
I was given recognition when I had designed a great print and had created something which could be used in future design projects along with being able to Creat what was asked from me.
Sarah Edwards gave me many of opportunities to creat and design things based on briefs which was given to the designers by the buying team and once i had created my own work she gave me feedback and ways to improve.
Very busy i was never bored i always had jobs to do, they make me feel like a member of the team from day one and always complimented me when creating something.
I was given quite a bit of responsibility but I wasn’t under pressure when doing the jobs as if it went wrong they just helped me to do it right. I had the opportunity to put trends books together for designers who had a deadline that day along with adding fabric swatches to each booklet.
All the skills they taught me are very handy as now I know what’s needed in trends books, what’s asked for on sheets given to the manufactures. I also learnt what it is to be like to be a designer in such a busy well know company.
The Company
Amazing everyone was really friendly and welcoming.
Never a day were i didn’t have a new job todo.
I worked one to one with some designers on projects and helped complete some work for people on deadlines.
I’ve been told when I get my full degree they are more than happy to give me an opportunity to a job opening.
The Culture
I was the only placement student there
Didn’t have any
Didn’t work at night
Not really as I wasn’t on placement long enough.
