The Role
I really enjoyed the faced paced environment and the people I worked with. I learnt a variety of new understandings that were necessary to my degree.
I felt very valued by MOST of my colleagues, I didn’t feel like a placement student at all I felt asthough I fitted in.
I would say I was given a great deal of guidance and support but not by all managers
It could be very hectic and stressful! But it was so rewarding when we would see the outcome.
I would say at times I was given “too much” responsibility in the fact that some jobs I took on should have been carried out by a manager. But I took this as a compliment that I was trusted with such important tasks.
I learnt a lot about a business and the structure within a business, there was a lot of Excel training that I learnt. I also gained great office experience.
The Company
It was amazing! I loved walking into the office everyday, everyone was so friendly and welcoming
There wasn’t really a programme set up I didn’t have support from HR but I fed this to my line manager at the end of my placement and this was then changed for future students.
I was always encouraged to go on training and workshop days which I really enjoyed and the company would invest a lot of time into them!
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I feel as though there are business’s out there who are better organised and structured, however I would rejoin the Matalan family.
The Culture
Yes, I was always invloved!
I was living at home at the time so didn’t really struggle. I feel that I was earning above average.
