About You
Very insightful experience, two day conference summarizing Unilever's purpose, brands and objectives. As well as, getting to know the whole internal structure, meeting other interns and learning from industry experts. Each activity was different and very enriching in terms of academic knowledge but also personal growth. Everyone was very kind and opened to share their life and work experiences which as a student I find very insightful and influential. Moreover, breaks were included every 1-2h avoiding fatigue and keeping it simple.
Although it has only been a two day conference, there were a lot of supervisors, coordinators and guest speakers paying attention to the intern-group and willing to share their knowledge with each of us. With the smaller-group activities, we got to know each other (the interns) as well as the supervisors. This shows the work ethic and friendly environment the company aims to achieve in the working place. Which turns to be very welcoming and an incentive to come work to this brand.
The virtual experience was divided into multiple activities some of which were about listening to guest speakers while others were more about interactions between the interns. This rich combo made the experience quite engaging as well as auto-didactic. At the same time, before each group activity, the exercise was clearly explained as well as the requirements and objectives of it. It was a great combination of initial guidance plus delegation of responsibility to each intern.
Firstly, the communication and time-management skills required for each activity definitely showed me areas were I can improve. In relation to this, power point skills are definitely essential for a marketing role. Hence, I am surely spending some of my time during this month learning from online courses to improve my capabilities in this area. Secondly, the information collected from the guest speakers is invaluable. Not only they are experts in their respective disciplines but also they have shared their mistakes and knowledge obtained throughout their career. Lastly, after this conference I believe I have a clear and more defined idea of what a marketing role looks like and what international and recognized brands such as Unilever expect from college graduates.
The Company
As previously mentioned, the conference was very well organised, pauses and breaks were included often, the activities were rich in content and non-monotonous and each discussion was about a different but meaningful topic. The organizers were very kind and frank with our ideas and they pushed us to participate and share our thought about the matter being discussed. Each day a different speaker has been brought, with the second day being my favorite scheduled day.
This definitely was the best aspect of the virtual experience, as I mentioned before, everyone was very welcoming both supervisors, guest speakers and interns. Not only they were welcoming but everyone respected each other's ideas and thoughts and actually pushed each other to excel and share our opinions even if they were opposite to the argument being discussed. Overall, I rate this segment the highest because even if both days were 8h of conference, the atmosphere was clearly worth it.
Both group activities definitely pushed us to express our business idea in front of a judging panel making it challenging but very rewarding thanks to the feedbakck.
This aspect was also clearly met with all the discussions we had about a marketing role and being part of the Unilever Team.
Unilever's objectives were clearly explained and defined, and I as a future intern understood much better the mission of this company: to make a more sustainable world throughout eco-friendly consumer products.
I have quite a clear career path in my mind but this conference definitely helped me see things much more clear.
Everything Else
It was a voluntary virtual experience.
Definitely we met a lot of members of the current and future team.
Great formal and informal networking events.
This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions did a great job showing us some of the extracurricular activities the company offers and the environment there is with other colleagues.
