About You
Very enjoyable, its was very well planned and there was lots of opportunities to get involved in a large range of work. Considering the circumstances that the internship had been moved on line at short notice, everyone tried to make the experience as close to what it would have been if we had been in the office.
The team were very welcoming and clearly trusted us interns with a decent amount of responsibility, as we were able to participate in client work very early on in the internship.
All colleagues were very supportive and ready to help out with a range of queries, from IT to filling out time sheets. Everyone was very happy to answer questions. There was also a lot of training materials to use that helped support our client and group project work.
My knowledge of the retirement industry has greatly increased and this should help support my degree studies in economics. The skills I learnt about presenting about new topics to groups will also be extremely transferable.
The Company
Very well structured. Lots of training sessions had been planned and the rest of the time was full of group project work and client work. There was always something to do and colleagues were keen to help find work if you had spare time.
Really good atmosphere, the whole team I worked with was extremely welcoming. It was also very nice to be able to complete project work with interns in other offices around the country.
A lot of hours were devoted to training sessions and there were many resources available to support our training and client work. It's clear the company puts effort into the development of their employees and training opportunities are easy to access.
We got to virtually shadow several colleagues during our time and so it was clear to see what everyone's roles were and what their normal work days looked like. We also learnt a lot about non client roles and specialism that you can take on in the company.
It was easy to see that there was a strong positive culture in the company that really valued the personal development of their employees. It's a very collaborative environment and everyone works well as a team.
It was very informative about the industry and the different paths you can take in it. I would be very open to a career in pensions in the future.
Everything Else
The internship was paid well.
We got to work with interns from other offices around the country for a group project and this was very enjoyable. I was also able to attend a meeting involving client work in multiple offices.
Slightly limited because it was all online but everyone made the most of it. We did get to meet several senior colleagues in small meetings and it was very interesting and informative to hear about their career progression.
Yes, there are many opportunities to get involved in charity work and volunteering outside of work time.
Definitely, very nice company with a good collaborative culture and you get the opportunity to be involved in a large range of work.
