Actuarial Business Support Specialist - Retirement Review

This was one of the best experiences of my life. I never felt like a job could make you feel this good about yourself but my time with WTW changed that. The people were so welcoming, the work was fun and challenging and the fact it was virtual certainly didn't hinder the experience. They made it everything I could've asked for, and I felt I grabbed the opportunity with both hands and threw myself in. I'm so glad I did that now.

I felt extremely valued. Even though most of my colleagues have never met me in person or had the chance to get to know me, they were still so kind and welcoming. Their feedback was brilliant, with a mixture of constructive advice and praise. I feel this has helped me learn and develop, not just in the role but in general life too. I didn't feel at all like an intern, I was treated as an equal by everyone - and they were all interested to learn about me.

I had access to as much guidance and support as I needed. Whenever I had a question I could call up anyone in the team and ask as much as I needed. There was very much a 'no question is a stupid question' feel to the atmosphere of the team. We had training sessions for every aspect of the work we carried out, with online resources and quiz's to go alongside. Any problems were always easily sorted by the help of my colleagues.

Hugely. I feel as though this real world job experience will aid my efficiency with my studies, I will ask more questions with confidence, regardless of the size of the class, I will try and form closer bonds with my peers and organise more social activities - as I feel it is important to get to know the people you work with on a more personal level. In general, I feel my entire studying ability and experience will improve greatly thanks to the skills I've developed here.

Extremely well. Again, the internship had a lot of training sessions early on to learn the content and get a grasp of pensions, then the later weeks were aimed mainly at client work, with a group project all the way through as well, which I thoroughly enjoyed. There have been social events, and opportunities to meet colleagues to learn about some of the work they do too. It has been completely seamless and ran so smoothly.

Fantastic. In all previous jobs I've had, I have never found an atmosphere like this one. Even with it being online, I still felt the warmth of my peers so in the office, I can only see it being even nicer. Everyone is helpful, chatty and kind which is brilliant. There's no rushing or short deadlines, and if you're stressed its easy to pass on work. Likewise if you're not busy, its easy to get extra work!

They invested a huge amount in me. There has been at least 15 hours of training sessions over the 4 weeks to teach us a whole manner of things about the company. We've learned about different areas of the company, how it is structured, how pensions work and how work is carried out at the firm. Even if there was something I wasn't sure on, there were opportunities to ask more detailed questions about a specific area and learn even more.

It was a great taste for real full time work at the company. Interns at WTW are treated the same as a new graduate so the training and client work done is broadly the same for both, so that it gives as good a feel for what it would be like to have a full time role as possible. Even though it was virtual, I was able to carry out the work as I would've done in the office.

Hugely. Everyone demonstrates the company culture throughout their whole job. At social events I've noticed that everybody behaves with the core principles of the company in mind. It is a hugely friendly environment, with integrity, teamwork, client focus, respect and excellence in mind always. It is a real learning environment, where colleagues are able to learn at their own pace without pressure or stress, which I feel has helped me excel faster than I would normally.

Incredibly. From day 1 I felt I would get the experience I needed to help decide whether this career would be for me, with the set up so close to a full time graduate role. By the end of week 1 I knew already that it was something I would like to pursue as a full time career, pensions may seem a boring job to most people but there is a huge amount of knowledge and skill needed to work in the industry.

I was paid very well for the full 4 week internship.

Yes. I've met most of the people in my office department over microsoft teams and had nice chats with them. I've also met all other interns on the program, of which there were 25 of us, and many other people from other offices as part of my research project. I met people from USA and Canada on calls too, as well as trustees of clients which was all fascinating work that I truly took so much from.

Unfortunately this was one of the only things that could've been better. Obviously it was completely out of anyones control, but with an in person environment comes better social opportunity. It has been great and a huge effort has been made by people to interact with us interns, but it is juts not the same as real life. We've had about 4 or 5 social events after work throughout the internship which have still been good fun however!

I found out about a few things the team get up to. From lunchtime meals, to after work drinks to summer sports days. Some of the team go on weekends away from time to time which looks like good fun too.

Absolutely, I couldn't recommend anything more.
