About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the virtual experience. It was incredibly insightful in both enhancing my knowledge of the division but also the other business areas within Barclays. It was an enriching experience where I learnt more about my division, my team as well as other areas of the bank. Barclays made a great effort to get the interns as involved as possible in as many events, so we as interns feel welcomed into a new organisation.
I felt incredibly valued during my time on the Barclays internship. This was because my team did a great job of making me feel very welcome. I felt very valued by my line manager. This in particular was when I was asked to work on complex tasks and projects. The HR team also did a great job of making me feel like a valued interne, this is by hosting a variety of network events across the internship.
I received a huge amount of guidance and support during my virtual experience. I felt incredibly supported by the Early Careers team during my internship. I received support from my buddy, who was always incredibly welcoming and offered to answer any questions I had. I also felt very supported by line manager who was always very supportive and encouraging of my own professional development. I also got a large amount of support from my mentor who also aided my own professional development.
The skills I developed during my virtual internship experience will be incredibly useful in my degree. It was also be useful in the work I do beyond my studies. This is because I have developed crucial skills for the work place. This includes my excel skills and my presentation skills. I've had the opportunity to develop these skills through the projects that I worked on. I have also enhanced my networking skills which will be very important for the future.
The Company
The virtual experience was incredibly well structured. As an intern I was never bored and had a wealth of activities and training sessions to take part in. The virtual experience was structured in a way so that I got the most out of the different training, networking and social sessions. There was a good interesting mix of social, professional development and training sessions which allowed me to have an incredibly enriching internship experience as a whole.
The general atmosphere of my virtual experience was positive and welcoming. Everyone that I networked with and spoke to on my virtual experience was incredibly welcome and offered to answer any questions I had. I could see that the Barclays values were definitely reflected in the atmosphere at Barclays and also the employees within Barclays across all different areas of the bank. The Early Careers team also did a great job in creating a positive and uplifting environment.
It was clear that Barclays really valued personal training and development. This was clearly demonstrated in the various different training sessions that we had. As interns we took part in IDG training which was incredibly useful in aiding my own professional development and also learning about the key skills involved in being a good employee. I learnt about the key skills needed to be a valued and strong member of the Barclays work force as a whole.
The virtual experience really enabled me to understand what it means to have a full time role within Barclays. I got this exposure by speaking to a wide range of people within the bank, and also speaking to different people within my team. I also got this understanding by completing various different projects and tasks for people in my team too. This was really insightful in shaping my understand of the different work projects that people work on.
The virtual experience thoroughly helped me understand the culture within Barclays. This is by speaking to a wide range of people within the bank, including people within my team and also speaking to people from a wide range of areas within Barclays. It was clear to me that the company culture at Barclays is one that is positive, uplifting and welcoming. It was clear to me as an intern that the Barclays values are key in the culture.
The content was very useful in helping me decide my own future career path. This is because it exposed me to areas of the bank I had not considered before, this is through the different networking sessions that were providing and also the meetings that I had with people. Getting this exposure was crucial in shaping my understanding of the different areas I am interested in within the bank. The content on a whole was great.
Everything Else
I was paid and reimbursed for my internship. Many of the interns were meant to move different locations across the UK. The internship experience on a whole I can say has been incredibly enriching and fun. It has really shaped my understanding of Barclays in a great way, by getting exposure to different areas within the bank. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience as a whole and would definitely recommend to people who at interested in Barclays
There were a wide range if opportunities to network with employees from Barclays. This was incredibly useful as a new intern. The internship experience on a whole I can say has been incredibly enriching and fun. It has really shaped my understanding of Barclays in a great way, by getting exposure to different areas within the bank. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience as a whole and would definitely recommend to people who at interested in Barclays
The networking and social event opportunities were great in getting the opportunity to meet loads of other interns. They were also good in exposing the UK interns to the US interns too. This was incredibly useful as a new intern. The internship experience on a whole I can say has been incredibly enriching and fun. It has really shaped my understanding of Barclays in a great way, by getting exposure to different areas within the bank. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience as a whole and would definitely recommend to people who at interested in Barclays.
I did find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work. I did this by attending the various different panel sessions hosted by HR, which were affiliated with a lot of the different networks within Barclays. I also did this by speaking to other Barclays employees, and a Colleague Engagement Manager who told me about the different citizenship opportunities available at Barclays that benefit the community. Barclays is great at citizenship.
I would most certainly recommend the virtual experience to a friend.The internship experience on a whole I can say has been incredibly enriching and fun. It has really shaped my understanding of Barclays in a great way, by getting exposure to different areas within the bank. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience as a whole and would definitely recommend to people who at interested in Barclays. It is a great way to get a fantastic insight into the banking industry.
