The Role
Tesco have gone above and beyond to ensure this years interns have the best internship experience possible- despite the unusual circumstances! I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at Tesco as well as gaining more insight into the business and culture. Tesco is a company I would love to work for in the future.
I have felt extremely supported throughout the entirety of my internship, both from the internship team and colleagues from other areas of the business. No ask is too big and other employees have been happy for interns to reach out to them personally via email and answer any questions about their job role.
Support and guidance was given every step of the way and clear briefs were given for all my projects as part of the supporting communities team. There were regular drop in sessions that enabled interns to ask any questions, and any issues were always followed up and sorted by management.
The 1st week wasn't that busy, but weeks 3 and 4 so far have been very busy with project presentations and the food love story project. I've enjoyed the increased workload, but I also like how Tesco values workalike balance so there is always the opportunity for breaks throughout the day.
Not loads of responsibility to be in charge and the tasks were very research and project based. However this is expected due to the changed programme as a result of the coronavirus.
The skills of working virtually will benefit me in the future when working collaboratively. The skills I have gained during my time at Tesco will definitely be applied to my future career.
The Company
N/A- The internship was held online. But the atmosphere was always friendly when joining large calls!
Very well organised! Each week and session was clearly blocked out in an internship timetable and interns were always reminded each week what would be taking place in the following week.
The regular training sessions showed that Tesco value personal development. We have virtual sessions on collaboration, wellbeing and how to present with confidence. These sessions shows the skills that Tesco value and that they invest in their employees on a regular basis.
Flexi Time
Working from home
Very appealing, interns will be invited back to the assessment centre for the graduate scheme.
The Culture
Was a bit limited due to the coronavirus, but we arranged online socials like art classes to keep interacted.
