About You
The effort EY put into creating this virtual internship and adapting their usual summer internship in order to allow an experience to go ahead in COVID times was fantastic. The internship was engaging and struck a good balance between learning and development seminars and interactive group and q&a tasks. At times the technology caused problems but over the week these issues were ironed out.
EY spoke a lot about the way it values its people and this was certainly reflected in the internship. We were introduced to people at the highest level in their service line and these people were more than willing to answer any questions that we had. Also multiple partners and senior managers took time out their day to speak to us and get involved in some of the case study team activities which gave a real authentic feel to the interactive tasks.
We were always invited to ask as many questions as possible and should any technical difficulties arise a member of the summer internship team was always on hand to help us out. The case study leader invited us to contact him should we require any help throughout the week and we also had a « buddy » EY employee mentor to help us out during the task.
Many of the skills that we developed through the learning and development sessions, I.e. high performance teamwork, presentation skills, mindfulness sessions were all highly transferable to studying a degree and also will benefit me should I work with EY in future.
The Company
As a very new virtual experience I thought EY did a brilliant job at structuring the week to minimise any technical difficulties and all the speakers and seminar leaders seemed fully briefed and supported to ensure the experience was a seamless as possible. Each day we had an agenda with clear timings and breaks which made the week very easy to get your head around.
The atmosphere was very energetic and people were very willing to participate and there was some light hearted times and activities which kept the mood good and helped me relax.
We were provided with several professional training and development courses which were highly informative and insightful!
This I feel would be quite difficult to do during a week-long virtual experience. However it certainly answered many of the questions I had about the firm and the friendly and passionate people we spoke to gave a great idea of the company’s culture.
Really helpful, it’s definitely made me want me to stay with the company and explore all the opportunities it offers.
Everything Else
The pay is a great bonus and shows EY value the attendees!
Yes, we were grouped with some other interns who will be starting at the same time in the same location. We worked really well as a team and hopefully we will keep in contact so it will be good to know some people if I start as a grad.
This was more difficult via virtual platforms however there was some fun icebreakers throughout the week and we have all added a lot of fellow attendees as well EY employees on LinkedIn.
Yes! There was plenty of chat about this, the different social events, sports teams and networks that EY employees get involved in. I’m hoping to join the netball team!
Yes definitely, I already have!
