    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I very much enjoyed this virtual summer internship. Especially considering the fact that many other companies had decided to entirely their summer internships this year. There was a completely different agenda for every day of the internship, making it that much more interesting and enjoyable! It was clear how much thought and hard work went into it.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • We were assigned a case study on day 1, which we had to then present to EY partners on day 5. It was nice to see how our groups had been assigned according to each person’s chosen office location. This gave us a great opportunity to get to know our future colleagues prior to starting the graduate scheme next year.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • A tremendous amount of support was given all throughout. Additionally, considering everything was ran virtually, there were no major tech issues or anything which prevented us from enjoying this experience to the fullest extent. The programme leaders and everyone and everyone else involved were always very diligent to make sure everyone was supported throughout.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • We had a jam packed schedule all throughout the programme. We were busy receiving talks from people working on our service line, but also people from the Learning and Development team which were always very insightful and interesting. Additionally, the case study kept us busy at the end of each day.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Considering the programme was ran virtually, it would obviously be difficult to give the summer interns a considerable amount of responsibility. However, it was great that an alternative had been put into place, which was the case study. In each of our groups we had the responsibilty of reviewing the relevant paperwork and creating a presentation for the partners.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The training I received was incredibly helpful. It has given me an idea of what it will be like to work in my chosen service line and it’s been great soeaking with various people from my chosen office. Also, the learning and development sessions were incredibly well structured and I believe they will certainly assist me in my future studies
