About You
Overall, I found my virtual internship at EY to be very enjoyable and a great learning experience. The virtual experience consisted of a range of presentations discussing: what the role (tax) involved, EY's culture and other topics ranging from how EY can help you develop professionally to mindfulness. The internship also involved a group case study, which not only gave me a chance to get a first-hand understanding of tax, but also the possibility to interact with other interns.
I was made to feel extremely valued during my time at EY. EY employees, regardless of their rank, were always more than happy to take time out their days to discuss certain topics with you or answer any questions you had. Many have even offered to stay in touch after the internship to help interns fully understand the world of tax and what working in tax would involve. Staff went out of their way to ensure everyone felt comfortable.
The Company
The structure of the virtual internship could have been better; however, it is important to note that the team organising the internship had very little time to do so. Interns would only find out about their next day activities the afternoon beforehand, which made the experience more stressful than it could've been. Additionally, we were also only made aware of how to submit/present the group task the afternoon before. Despite this, the days and activities were clearly structured. It just would've been nice to have more information beforehand.
The general atmosphere during my virtual experience at EY was fantastic. Everyone was really supportive and staff went out of their way to ensure everyone felt comfortable. EY employees were always willing to answer any of our questions and many have offered to stay in touch post internship. The virtual experience also involves lots of fun activities which helped alleviate stress and get to know the other interns, such as Kahoot quizzes and a group projects.
EY invested a lot of resources and time into aiding our personal training and development. Over the course of the week we received a range of presentations discussing a range of important professional skills. These included: - presenting - working in teams - managing your time and prioritisation The group case study we were assigned to complete allowed us to implement the skills we learnt.
The virtual experience really helped me understand what it would be like to have a full time role within the firm. week was really helpful in helping me decide on my future career. The week really allowed me to get an in-depth understanding of what working in tax involves. The week included:
The virtual experience helped me gain an excellent understanding of the company culture at EY. Over the course of the week we got to listen to various presentations talking about the company's culture, which allowed us to gain great insights into what working at EY would be like. We were also given the opportunities to have 1 on 1 sessions with our 'buddies', which allowed us to have in-depth conversations with an EY employee discussing any questions we had.
The week was really helpful in helping me decide on my future career. The week really allowed me to get an in-depth understanding of what working in tax involves. The week included: - Presentations from members within different sub-services of the tax department discussing their day to day roles. - Panel sessions - Buddy Q & As - A group case study to help us gain a first hand understanding of what working in tax involves
Everything Else
There were loads of opportunities to network and meet other employees of the firm. EY organised panel sessions with many different employees, as well as more personal meetings with 'buddies' who were assigned to us.
